so wat is it with indians and shad????? weneva i went fishing from lyti days. i always saw indians catching shad. or trying to catch shad. im indian so i cant be racist here. no offence to any1.

anyone got answers????

i am also indian and personally i dont fish for shad, simply because to me i feel there is no skill involved in catching them and secondly because od the behaviour of some guys when fishing for it. when the shad comes on the bite its like charous take a double karate water and the dramas start!
undersize fish, exceedining qouta, burning guys off, paras start!
takes the fun out of it for me, pack my kit and move to another spot!

I also move away from the locals when shad gets on bite cos other than that all hell may break loose !!!

exactly..... the fights that start...i read in the paper last year coz of tangled lines etc ...stupid reasons guys get poked and even die becoz of shad. cmon guys we gotta act responsible.
and heihachi u said it, undersize, bag limits etc, wen it comes to shad. problems.

Eish now the stories start, Catchin shad for bait a few yrs back had a 6/o get stuck in my shirt n did i lose it.... will not venture any wer near those okes.

Yup,not racist but shad definitely makes charous go mad!I never fish in that bunch,rather walk to another spot at least 500m away from that mad crowd!!!

I try and stay away from crowds when the shad is runnnig, fish left or right and i get my fish, just takes a little longer, but man,  some people loose it, sometimes i watch in wonder at the crowds, tangled lines, its chaos, cut off lines,  and how many have noticed how some fisherman in the shad run strike their fish, like three hard strikes, and then it comes off ,  pull it like a shark, ok thats my 2c ,

Did we stop and think why these guys are so desperate? Many of them are unemployed, hungry, down and out. I am not condoning their behaviour, but maybe the Parks Board can give them a special permit, just like they have here on the north coast for our 'indigenous' brothers to harvest the rocks legally.
 
Better than theft and begging imo.
One pull of the trawlers net probably gets more than what these guys can pull in a year? Yet the parks board hounds the 'leisure' fisherman, while there are guys there really damaging our stocks. I'm not saying that have a free for all, but they should accomodate people who have been fishing for generations, and rely on the fish to survive.
