Loomis Archipelago and Boss Braid

All I can comment on is how far and how smoothly it casts.

I got so busy with shark fishing (my bad) that the rod was relegated to catching Shad for slide bait (sorry:?:?)

Biggest fish I landed on it was a 25kg Diamond ray...... that became a swimbait so there was no time or even thought of a Pic of the fish or the rod and fish

You could always give it to me :)
We will give it a great workout in two weeks time!!!
everyday spinning for live bait
when all is settled, a mole crab and five o hook to the deep for some pompies!!!!!

so, laat weet of ek moet kom draai

then we can give some feedback on the braid too, daai 25lb.

ek weet klaar ons gaan by die 160meter draai as dit nie dalk verder gaan wees nie.

hoop eerder die vis is naby

Picked up my new 11' from Fishermans Warehous today for R1270 and 300m 30lb Boss Slick Braid for R300.

Question: Is the Slick and upgrade from the Skinny Braid?

Planning to pair this rod with my Saltist 4500H. Must say the Aluminium trimmings and the fine Turquoise Blue and Black binding match perfectly with the finish on the Saltist.

Will spend a around 2 weeks at Vidal/St Lucia area in September - looking forward to hook a Garrick.

I have bought the 11' in January paired with a previous model Quantum Cabo csp50 with 30lb 832 braid. For my grandson I have bought the 10' paired with a Daiwa Exceler Z4000 and 30lb boss skinny braid. We have spend the last 2 weeks of the July holidays at Glenmore and caught a lot of shad (unfortunately a lot was undersize and was returned). I am very happy with my setup all though the Cabo 50 is a heavy spinner and really works the arms after a while but was giving me huge distances on the cast. For the shad the 10' setup was a lot better and a lot more forgiving on the arms after a long session. I can say that I am very happy with the rods and on the Boss skinny braid that it is was holding its color and "shape" a lot longer than the 832.
I have also have to say that I can not believe the prices you are paying for your tackle but perhaps that is because you are not shopping at Gani's.

@SPFOldtimer I'm really interested in what the casting difference was between the 10ft and 11ft?

Also has anyone used the rod for scratching, or just to throw spoons?

I've caught more fish on it with bait than with spoon. Fish 2 and 3oz weights with bait with the rod. Biggest so far with it was a 19kg Eagle ray

It is difficult to give you and accurate distance difference but I will say in access of 20 meters with the heavier 2oz + spoons. On the lighter 1.5oz spoons it is not that much and on the 1 oz spoons the 10' was up there with me. I will not make to much of the diff in distance until I have cast the 2 rods with the same line and reel. I have mentioned that the boss braid stayed in better shape for longer than the 832 but I have found once the 832 has showed a little bit of use it was as if it became a bit softer and the movement thru the fishing rod eyes was like it was smoother and better. On the boss braid you could hear the noise created thru the eyes was still a little bit louder than that of the 832 and that could also impact on the distances achieved.

How did the rod hold up with the 19kg ray?

Both are made by Okuma.

The Archipelago is a Far superior rod with a better layout and hugely superior components and the new models have a much lighter blank and crisper action
