Hi..

Got myself a 2pc BM Pro Carbon 12ft G2 4 - 5oz rod I bought at Cash Crusaders for R899 some months ago.

Rod has thick eva foam grip as you would expect and guides not in complete excellent condition though should last for quite some time. Not sure what to do with rod as I have similar size rods that is my go to sticks.

Soo thinking of converting the rod to grinder rod but maybe bit by bit like different / better grip and guides for grinder fishing. Quality bits like these are not cheap and add to it cost for someone doing the rod.

Did not pay that amount for a second hand rod only.. it had a Fin Nor 16ofc attached in good nick along with a full spool of depth braid (4-600m) maybe.. attraction was the reel itself but was sold as a combo and might as well take the rod if I need a slightly shorter or longer rod compared to a 13,6 or 10ft rod.

Is it worth the conversion or is there quality affordable components for the rod. If best quality means might as well buy a complete blank with build then not worth it imo.

Not needed over night so can accumulate parts over time. Rod is very light and 24ton so a good blank even for the rock fishing. Also will shortening the rod not be a good idea as 12ft is slightly longer than I would ideally like and if so do I scrap the idea altogether?

Definitely re build.
Why don't you have a bash at doing it yourself, no need to rush the job.

There will be folks happy to help / point you in the right direction.

New reel seat.
Some 1-2mm cork tape and x-flock for grips, dead simple and it works well.
A set of LCOG's wont set you back a fortune and they will do a brilliant job.

Build that thing yourself....whats wrong with you....;)

The reward of building and catching fish on your own rod cannot be beat.....i know all too well.

thanx.. think ill do just that and look forward to reading up on all posts and liasing with you guys for advice..will make use of offers.

also slight booboo in description..blank just has blue marlin on and not pro carbon also its rated 3 - 4oz..thinking about it has me in fishy tingles as rod can be used for my larger spinners etc and also bait fishing for larger eds like kob and make it my kob rod if I can say that making for a rod that is tangle free casting when wading in false bay for a white sea bass aka el kobo, also for non eds like spotties and diamonds.. not sure ill put a spinning rod through that tests but defo will with this blank.. might for the time being also use the rod with a grinder to have a feel for it.
