Howsit guys sorry for the picture was done on a ipad and I have fat fingers.
What is your guys ideas on this rig as its only a idea at the mpment and I havent tried it out.
If this is the way it is normally done or is a old idea then sorry I only have experience with the dropping method.
This is basically a combination of the dropping method and the keeping the kite out and fighting the fish with the kite attached.
Basically the thing at the water line in the picture is a 2l coke bottle or even a five liter bottle (not artistic lol).A line say 15kg connects this bottle to the release clip. Then another line of about 3kg breaking strain connects the bottle to either the bait or the swivel on the bite trace. The 3kg line can be varied in length depending on what depth you want the bait to be at.
The idea of the bottle is that it keeps the bait at a certain depth. It can be half filled with water to keep the kite from lifting the bait as well.
When the fish takes the bait it will either snap the thin line or it will pull open the release clip releasing the kite.
Keeping the of the bottom you shouldnt have problems with crabs if the are out in force and you could also target a different area in the water column. Will also eliminate getting snagged up on reefs when sending out a smaller live shark or ray.
You should also with some luck be able to pick up some game fish by sending out a live shad in some spots and conditions are right.
