Howzit Guy's

I have seen so many pics and post's on family and father's and son's going fishing together. What i always admire and i feel we as anglers tend to forget what this sport really does do for us.

Fishing brings us together it fills a gap that sometimes can never be filled by anything else. What i am trying to say is that our love for this sport really has a prefound effect on our family life as a whole.Sometimes bad but most times it's good.

I have recently seen Reefmans Pics on his trip to Mapalane and i was taken back to the day's when i used to go with my dad or grand dad on these sort of trips. Those were the day's that i miss today. As we get older we tend to drift away from the regular family outings etc etc...And yet as we get older so do our parents grandparents etc..and this is when we should be the closest to them.

Last weekend i went to Umkomaas an dmy dad was there with his freinds and we hadnt spoken in a while, but low and behold the minute we get on the beach and the fish are moving we start talking and yacking like to buddy's.The point of this post is that i reckon we need to apreciate what angling does for us and the bond we have with family and freinds through angling.

How many of you guy's feel the same way and have had similar experiences? You know one thing ive learnt is that we need to be more like freinds to our parents and grandparent's in that way we end up being able to enjoy eachothers company irespective of the age barrior...

Hey Riymos

I'm really looking forward to when I can take my son fishing. He's definitely gonna enjoy fishing cause both my wife and I enjoy the sport. I've got him a platic fishing set, with his own tackle box. we play a little fishing game and he totally understands the concept. He's just 16 months old so I still have to wait a while before we can fish together.

BTW my wife caught a grunter a fews years back at St Lucia, weighed almost 2kg's.

Hey guys

Riymos, maybe Sealine should organise a family day. It would be a great way for our partners to meet, those ladies that do fish can encourage the ones that don't.  It will be great for the kids as well.

L-H, congrats to the little one. Unfortunaley my boy hates TV so have to watch ESA/ESPN alone.

man thats all she ever wants , eat sleep drink barney , even in her sleep , she says barney . when she opens her eyes , barney!!! , shemust have her stuffed barney with her , when she eats food , she must be watching barney , if she walks past a tv  ...daadaa barney!!!

but the good thing abt it tho is that she learns from barney and i have some brainy baby videos that she also watches . good for development aswell.

we have a barney excercise dvd , and she does the jumping and clapping and rolling , so it keeps her active aswell.

Hey L-H

We got all the Barney goodies, still not interested. He's got stuff that he keeps busy with, the good news is that one his favourites is the fishing set.

Riymos my wife is enjoying dropshotting, we catch blacktails and karanteen of the rocks at Mtwalume. It's great fun and your hands don't smell. Maybe you should get the wife to try it out.

Good luck bru

I hope your wish comes true.
It's a great feeling having the wife enjoy the same sport. I was fortunate that my father in-law loves his fishing and had encouraged my wife to fish when she was just a little girl.

I remember when my grand dad was the lighthouse keeper in Mosselbay,I used to go there all the time when school holidays started,it was great we used to go fish down at Dana baai, and thats were I was taught to cast with a penn reel,I guess if it was not for my for my grand dad and dad I would never have got the old fish fever running in my blood.... Now he has passed on I am sure he is fishing the big blue up there....

When I came back from Angola this time I took my son (4) and daughter (8) fishing for the first time..just the look on there face when they got there first fish ( STREEPIE ) was just so amazing there are just no words to explain it.... I totally agree take a kids fishing and you will have the most amazing day ever.... or if you don't have kids take your next door neighbours kids out...its just so much fun....

I agree, just wish the "boss" can hook into some LGF so that she too can experience the satisfying rush of mixed emotions when it's a nice sized, fighting, jumping LGF....

Hey Sly

Not a bad idea, but how about taking that thought to the next level.  Maybe we should have a Sealine Junior comp where the dads bring their kids down for a day, with some prizes and let the kids get to know each other better too.

It makes sense to me to start the conservation mindset as early as possible, so a youngster comp could be that start.

And for us mid 30's who old man's still like to throw a line in their 70's we could even have a father/son comp.

Just a few thoughts, let's hear some feedback. :)

Going to give it a bash and see if my wife notices.
