Hell, it's getting out of hand! The hit and run sounds pretty hectic! I agree it happens so quick, I remember when my old Isuzu 4 x 4 got stolen, that after I have invested quite a bit on it. I was still living in Pinetown at the time, I stopped at a Spar, went in to get milk/bread.... I was the only person in the shop........no waiting at the till paid and walked out, got to the parking lot (with car guards) and my bakkie was gone!!!!

@ Jeanswart - Sure I can email you the footage.

There was an incident on Sunday night where 4 Asian males in a similar described bakkie stole 2 vehicles. Last I heard were they were tracking them as they both had tracking units in them - no feedback other than that. Also on Friday late afternoon a house has hit around the courner - favorite tactic at the moment is a hit and run type operation where they bash the door in and collect all the elecronic goods in less than a min and flee. Something is fishy in the area as ADT have a foot-patrol in these roads and there is footage of the ADT guys following the car they used out of the area. The foot patrol aparantly reported the car used and the response vehicle escourted the perps out doesnt make sence. The footage is from someone up the road and around the corner - unfortunatle not in the direction my boat went though.

What email can I use - the relevant clip is around 5 megs
There was a lot of similar theft going on here and eventually the oke from the security company that patrolled was bust. He was the Kingpin.

Had a visit from SAPS last night - They viewed the footage and confirmed that these chaps are wanted on their hit list. The chap is sure the chaps operate locally and are linked to a number of local house breakings so he is confident that the boat is still local. They have previous footage of them from other scenes. Their time will come.....

Andy, also check with filling stations in your area on date and time (maybe up to hour or so) before the theft, maybe they fueled there. The forecourt of almost all filling stations have good closed circuit cameras and recording equipment specifically to id faces and registration numbers. Perhaps you can get better image of the perps also buying cold drinks at a forecourt shop before they approcahed your house.

Not sure toll gates around Umhlanga, but all tollgates have recognition cameras at each booth and lane. Maybe check for hour or two after suspected robbery.

If you have the digital footage of the video recording. I will supply you with a place where you can upload it. I am pretty sure we can do something with this video to get the number plates of this bakkie.

I would also like to see these fools busted.

Ok I downloaded the video. The quality is pretty low so I cannot find something on there easily.

I know this one genius guy. Spoke to him about it, he told me that I should bring the video to him and he will create overlays from each frame and then he will see if he cannot reconstruct a full view of the number plate from the different frames and views.

I will let you know if we could do something. Lets hope this guy can sort you out.

Sorry that I don't have better new already.

jees, I tried everything.

Most I can get out of the video is that it is 3 short numbers.

For anybody that has a Windows box, there is a program called Focus Magic that you can try. Maybe we will get lucky.

I would just like to get my hands on those bas@rds before they get caught.......I know of this 22" hammerhead of the wreck at Mtunzini....

Sorry to hear about your boat Andy! Its a pitty those pics weren't taken through the scope of a high powered rifle just before the squeeze....

Any news on the police progress?

This may be a little late, but i've been toying with the idea of putting a gps tracking system on my boat. My idea was to use it in a similar manner to an EPIRB but at a fraction of the cost, so long as one is in cell phone range it should work. However in cases like this it will definately work and no thief will expect it!!!

Anyone ever thought of or tried this?

Sorry, i know i'm moving off the topic.
