Hello everyone!
We recently returned from a day fishing trip off the coast of Maputo close to Injaka Island, I've been trying to ID this fish we caught but I am not sure, Is there anyone here who could ID this fish positively please?
Thank You

Is bottom fishing allowed there, in all my years of fishing Mozambique we were explicitly told that the East Coast is a Marine Conservation area and only Pelagic fish may be caught.???

Hey Gero..
I'm assuming it's allowed since the guys have their own boats parked at the Jetty in Maputo, I do know that there are certain areas that do not allow bottom fishing like South towards Ponta Da Ouro...
The best is to contact the guys in Moz to give further guidance, I was only a guest of one of the owners of the boat...
I must admit that it seems like there is no monitoring of what comes out from the sea especially off Maputo as no official was present when we docked. What was shocking is that later that evening we went to the fisheries and could not believe that they were selling Kob barely 10cm long..

darraaz,

That is sad to hear when the sea is raped.
It is however a livelihood for many.
Closer to home I am thinking of the Illegal Abalone and Rhino horn trade. Although it is a livelyhood feeding many it is still wrong as these species are in danger of dissapearing totally off our planet.

Let us hope and pray that all all living things can live and thrive without exploitation by greedy individuals.
