Hi guys  I hope some one can help me. I need to find out more about 'strops' and how to put your hooks and sinkers on and were do you use what. I am going to the vaal river and I've got now clue what I must use and what not.

go buy 1 or 2 ready made traces from the tackle shops then copy them or do i search on this site i am sure naruto has posted some good tips

For the river I take a snap swivel and tie a light line to the sinker (disposable pickups and even sparkplugs).
Make seperate hook trace with single hook onto a swivel.
Hook swivel into the snap section of snap swivel.
the idea is if you get stuck in the rocks the sinker on the light line breaks away and you still have the fish on the single hook. Double hook traces for the river is not advised.

If I am fishing 12lb line my hook trace will be 15-20lb and sinker line 4lb.
