The only catfish bait I use is the head of a mudfish/carp.

Or cutting out fillets/discs.

Always had success using these as bait in the Vaal river system.

EK het al jou gewone skurwe rug paddas ook gebruik, hy moet net nie te groot wees nie.

As hy te groot is dan het hy te veel "melk"op sy rug, dan wil die babers niks weet nie.

Ideale grootte is so 2-2.5 duim.

ever heard of plattie wash?? or even plain old dishwashing liquid works like a bomb removes all the chemicals a plaatie uses and drains your normal frogs venom glands that lie behind the head and on the hind qauters as deffence to stay alive, give it a try it alows you to use much bigger frog, thus more movement and hopefully bier fish, i also wasnt able to get small ones at the dam i throw my nett in. however a very very nice topic to bring up and good point of disscusion, ja i find if one lets em swin in soapy water for about an hour they stop making that sauce nasty sticky stuff, then you just rinse em well and bobs your uncle,,

@greg shot mate i hope so to

@marthin thanks mate i will do so, hit em hard and fast got my circle traces all neatly packed already

Deisel,

I haven't thaught of that to be honest... Will try it.

I have caught crickets in the grass using an OMO water mix.

Did the same, rinsed them thoroughly and bang - fished them all up in one day's catfish outing at Buffelspoort.

a Friend and I had 16 runs all together, only managed to land 3 because of all the snags in that specific piece of water.

Thank you for the tip.

no worries, sunlight brings up more crickets and worms than omo but becarful not to kill your lawn hahaha it does do a bit of damage if the concetration is to high,, lekker enjoy your weekend

Glad to see you're back , Peter.

I'm hoping to go wet a line this coming weekend. Made myself some bait balls to try out with the sling.
