Def-e-nition
Sealiner
As The Knot section now Seems completely closed for business , i have resorted to posting This under here .
Sailfish Showed Me This Knot a While ago , but Through him Being Hasty , the Knot Failed Once Or twice .
He swore to it's Effectiveness , and I'm sure that when tied under normal circumstances , the knot will hold firm , and Stand it's ground .
i have subsequently got More time On my Hands as of Late , so this morning at 4 am i gave it another Whirl .
I used .50 mm Mainline , and a -wait for it- 1.2 mm , Leader .
Spyker Knots and my Bristol as Well as Uni to uni all seem to work wonders On any Leader 1mm and under . With the advent of Wind-ons , The art Of finding a Knot That can be used to tie a thick Leader , Without stepping , Seems to have been Lost . I will Try This Knot , and Report back The Results.
What May interest you though ,is it's Method of being formed , and it's sheer , simplicity . ........................!
Anyone well versed in tying Thick leader to thin mainline will tell you what a Major headache This can Be (forget wind-ons Now for a Second, lighties ... !)
1: Take The 1.2mm Leader- and a Lighter - And Heat up the point . Hold The lighter and your bait Knife In One Hand -and heat up The Tip . It's not a fuse , so don't try set It alight or you'll ruin the Line .
2 : As soon as you've heated it up - GENTLY puch it against the Steel on the blade of your Knife .GENTLY . If you push too hard , you'll have the most amazing Mushroom on the end of your Leader line - but It will Not be Strong . we want it Strong . so with a gentle Push on the blade, It'll cool down and Cause something That Looks like a Pin Head .
3:Now . take your .50 line , And make an 8 turn UNI knot .One can also use a variation of the Bob sands Braid-end connection for this Knot , but Lets keep it simple for now , and usi a UNI . 8 Turns up towards the Leader side , away from the pointy end .
4: With that done , hold The Tag end of the .50 , WET THE KNOT , and gently pull The Knot so that it forms . The Knot should Look Like a Nicely tight pack of winds around the Leader , and should also slide with difficulty on the 1.2 .
5: Pull it up now towrds the burnt end , Stand back , And call yourself simply Amazing at getting it right .
This knot creates The smoothest , Smallest Transition I have ever Seen , from Leader line , to Mainline , and , Though It's Method Of Tying May be completely Unorthodox , I assure you that when done Properly , this Knot is as strong as Any other . While not presenting as Much Mental , um , Security , as Maybe Tying a Knot in the Leader Line - I have thrown Out too Many Blue Zirconia rod Eyes , after the Knot comes through During the Cast making an allmight "thwack" , as it exits the rod , stealing an Eye in the process . December 8 2012 New rod eyes tweede baai , don't go There .
The completed Knot Looks stright Outta benoni . Futuristic , yet so simplistic in it's Method Of Strength .
Have fun . and Be amazed . I will Test The Knot , hein has used it already , and i will hook a nunu and See what happens .
The Knot should hold , as for you to Pull off The Melted bit , you would have to be absolutely giving the Line Horns - and before That breaks off - i predict Line Failure of The Mainline , In any event ............................
Cudo's to hein for this One . a Man with Too Much Brain , too Much time , and not a big Enough Stage .
I'm too Lazy to post it on Photobucket . Pics below !
