CO2 BAIT LAUNCHER

HI GUYS

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH A CO2 BAIT LAUNCHER.

ID LIKE TO BUY ONE OR EVEN MAKE ONE. IF YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A BLUEPRINT FOR A SAFE BUILD ID APPRECIATE IT AND IM SURE THERE ARE A FEW MORE OKES THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED, ANY JHB GUYS WANNA TEAM UP AND EXPERIMENT WITH BUILDING THIS THING, IT SEEMS LIKE  IT CAN BE ALOT OF FUN UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT, THEN IT WILL BE HILLARIOUS.

Hey Boet.
1st time on Sealine, interesting articles.
I have built myself a compressed air bait launcher. Shoots ice blocks, with bait and trace frozen inside.

Test fired 250+ meters at golf driving range (at 60psi) cant wait to try in the surf this December, designed for 100psi so should exceed 300m.

Not CO2 but same principal. Use mini compressor and or foot pump.
Will post video and pictures after my holiday in December.
Go on youtube, search bait launcher. I made mine for around R650

Reason I made 2? I was cheap and used normal 110mm underground pipe and endcaps.
Shot 150 meters at 60psi. thought I could get 250m if I pumped to 100psi. Blew the thing to pieces, took 20 minutes to get the shrapnel out my leg.

2nd attempt, I used proper pressure rated pipe and accessories, now I shoot over 300m, bait, sinker etc.
Only cost R550 to do it right.
Going to the coast next Friday for sea trials.

Ja there are some horrendous photos on the web of fishermen with not much flesh on their hands, just bones..Ja..better be like an anal german when building one of these things..Safety first and safety last. I'm not going to find the pics and post them as I don't really want to see them again, they are that bad!

I have just built one and I can't wait to try it out.
I am only going down to the coast in August so I will have to settle for a trial at the dam.

Some good points brought up in that last one..The sleeve of denim for possible shrapnel in the event of failure is a good one. and the video demonstrates that cold PVC is much weaker, as the article mentions, so don't use when cold.

But ja, people kill killed themselves with these, and taken others out..as well, there have been quite a few hands blown up so that there was only some bone left..so be safe and use your melon.

Good read, thanks. I will take that advice and use a heavy material around the compression chamber.
I have tested it out today at the local dam and I get about 300m when pumped up to only 6 bar. All the equipment used is rated at 12 bar so I should be ok there.
The next time I go shore fishing at the North pole I'll remember not to use it. He he he.

Good day is it perhaps possible to send me the specs and sizes of this bait bullet and where I can buy the high pressure pvc pipe?
