Carp Rod Pos VS Banksticks

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a sensation 4 rod pod and was wondering if it's worth it? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a pod conpared to banksticks? As these rod pods can get quite pricey! I'm doing conventional carp fishing at the moment but would LOVE to get into specimen fishing but unfortunately I'm still looking for dams in my area.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Regards
Michael :)

Get a pod rather as you can use it on just about any surface. Bankies you can only use if you can get it into the ground ;) So if the surface is too hard, rocky or even too soft it will be a struggle...

Awesome, thanks for your reply!

The pod I'm looking at has tripod legs, will that be quite stable or should I look at something with four legs?

i have just recently moved up from gauteng did a lot of specimen up there and joined SACS
i have both pod and back sticks i just made some bankstick support plates with spikes to get them stable
but with everything both have their time and place
bank sticks work well for small spaces and quick sessions
but if you need any help to get you going in specimen let me know i am currently down in big bay blouberg and all my gear is still in mosselbaai must make a plan to get it down here
but feel free to ask and i will help where i can

just make sure you get the those ones that yo can use the buzz bat legs as bank sticks as well then you have got both options
and also check the legs they must be able to extend high enough that if you want to put your pod in the water that there is enough clearance
adjustable buzz bars and rod butt bars are also nice to look for some pods the spacing for the rods are to close and the center bar is to low so when you have big pits on they lie on the center bar
hope it helps you
maybe send a pic and i can give more info

I would steer clear...they are very weak built...buzz bars bend very easy on them...they small...
Best pod out there at an affordable price is sensation terra firma! Have a look on facebook for secondhand pods...Specimen Style Trade ;)

Has anyone tried those clip-on bite alarms? Saw them for the first time the other day!

Also with regards to bite alarms, which is a good brand that isn't too pricey?

i have drake ones never a probleme
just make sure they are water proof
if you have budget go for wireless that helps you a lot especially if you are not a light sleeper
havent tried the jackle range yet but like i say make sure they are water proof

also take a look on henkor website i know they are in gauteng but maybe you can get an idea

got the same ones for my first alarms and still have them
since i bought the drakes 2014 only changed battery once also whats nice about them is the tone and sensitivity settings on them helps a bit in windy conditions to set the sensitivity
next buy will be wireless because just nice to go to bed and have the receiver next to you
