Busy making a few plugs and thought I'd share the jig I made for drilling the through hole. All things being square the hole should be true. The plug is clamped to the jig and the jig clamped to the table.

Take a round bar and sharpen it.
Lock it in your chuck.
Lower.it down to a vise and clamp it.
FiX vise to drill press bed.
Loosen chuck and raise it.
Now the chuck will be true to the sharpened pin.

Find and punch centers on both end of the plug.
One center on the pin drill into other.
Turn over and repeat drilling to center each time.

This method works for odd shaped plugs.

Also, for lure making I use these online calculators so I know how much lead is going in without having to guess. Also usefull when changing drill size or number of holes but retaining the same weight.
