hey guys
so i took the day off yesterday to go and try out buffelspoort dam.
we arrived at the dam at 6:30am and lines were in by 7.
i put 4 lines out at around 250m with bomb and floaties, and two at around 60m with worms.
at around 9 came the first bite on one of the worms with a beautiful canary kurper (biggest i have ever seen) measured 24cm (sorry guys no camera)
then at 12:45 one of my reels started screaming, picked up the rod set the hook and the fight was on.for every 20m of line gained this thing took back 50, at one point the bus i had rapped my line on decided that its headed for the opposite bank and just wouldnt stop, just a heavy heavy pull no head shakes just pulling me flat.
i had maybe 10 turns of line left on my reel when all of a suddon it went slack,i thought the fish was heading in my direction, but when i got my trace back (after reeling in 400m) i saw that i had actually been broken off.
i was using relatively think lines. main line XX high abrasion .40 and XX high abrasion .36
the fish broke the line on the hook trace.
didnt manage to see what it was just a guess that it was one hell of a carp (didnt feel like a baber)
anyways hopefully next time the line will hold and ill have some nice pictures for you.
have a great week and tight lines
