best braid for backing

hey guys.

i got a new reel for Christmas and i need to spool it. for the mainline i have 0.55 perline but i need braid. what would the best braid be and what breaking strain. i hope to be targeting non-ed off the beach.

to go with 0.55mm then 50lbs

Whiplash if your dad's got the budget (will cost yvou around R1200 for 550m)

HMP, Gator or Jerry Brown all tested and found adequate. If you're interested in Jerry Brown drop me a PM and I'll give you the prices.

Whiplash is by miles thinner than anything else around with the exception of Kinfisher Pro (? I think) which allows you to spool a good couple of hundred metres on a reel.

BTW if your dad posts it to you getting him to call it fishing tackle where you will only be stung VAT at worst. String for some reason has it's own category and attracts a 40% dut as I found on some Crystal Whiplash I brought in once.

Guys Basil Manning is selling whiplash 50lb @ R1.6 per meter inc VAT.Best Price I've seen so far unless you buy it yourself overseas.
