Policing of the said rivers and estuaries will have to be enforced and maintained to prevent the fishing.
Policing of the areas and beaches in the Wildernis area is already NIL, so we will wait and see what the outcome will be.

not sure which paper??just got that part...nou dat ons law abiding hengelaars van riviere af is in die nag.....stel gillnet poachers maar net meer kiefnette...ten minste kon ons ouens kyk en nette verwyder......daars nie mannekrag....hengelaars was die mannekrag op rivier....die bewaringsbewuste rivier hengelaars was al ouens wat dit in toom gehou het....doodsnette groot probleem hier in ooskaap...my een maat wat net snags hengel al paar vanjaar uitgehaal....dan is dit seker nou maar dit...net in dag hengel...terwyl stropers snags carte blanche het....juis naweek op rivier vertel die natuurbewaringsbeamte ons hoe bly hy is dat die ligtegerei bootmanne saans help kyk vir nette..hy kan nie elke aand op rivier wees nie...tot nette by mond verwyder..bo en behalwe die in bo rivier....

As pointed out they lack the manpower to enforce ANY of the current laws,now the recreational angler gets the short end once again.
I'm all for conservation of any species,but imposing random bans which they clearly can't enforce is beyond me.
If they find a way to enforce it,I say give it a go,but what they are doing now is taking away the extra sets of eyes that helped them track down poachers.
Which obviously is quite clear are rife,even after catching 5 suspects,Kleinbrak river is still being hammered with nets.
The recreational angler isn't the problem here,its the individuals that have put our stocks under pressure with illegal activities.
One kid has been naughty now the whole school gets punished...
Again,IF they can enforce the law,I'm all for it...
If not,don't punish the honest anglers for the issues created by poachers.
In my opinion the solution is more manpower,yes yes easier said than done,but it IS the only viable solution to this long running,pain in the arse issue.

Good idea. I hope it materialises and they get it right. No policing here either, thats why guys post things they shouldnt. Big problem.
