Not that I know of. Been fishing on recreational, charter and commercial boats for a few years and seen many fish but never once a bank steenbras

In the Deat fishing brochure of 2008/2009 it is listed as not having a minimum
catch size. I have not seen this fish before.

Nope too, never seen never heard of...............perhaps a local local local name somewhere?

Did they mention where this fish is found?

Yes, it is a reef fish from falsbay to Natal waters.
The pictures look very similar to white steenbras, on diving sites it is often discussed.

How was the fishing Thursday?

Dead, dead, dead, morsdood vrek.  Couple of Santers and a positively identified Kapenaar and that's it, oh yes, some or other unknown specie to me, I presume it is a Silver, looks very much like a Carpenter but without the evil teeth

Nope, don't take a camera on the boat, lost too many of them. Could be a descent size panga. It looks like a red karanteen, also with the horizontal lines, but not as distinct as the strepie's. It has small teeth and was a bit bigger than my hand

On Wednesday we got 3 nice size Geelbek, 4.8 5.3 and 7.2 kg's - gutted. On the 45m mark. The other boat that launched with us went out to 80m and got zilch

oh gee thanks for letting me know you were going ;)

nice sizes, good to hear it

Sorry man, I did not plan to go, but my usual fishing partner persuaded me at about 10 on Wednesday morning, so everything got rushed, even forgot the bait, we had to borrow a box of sardines.

Tomorrow it is me and the traffic department, Tuesday I've got a ZZ-R 1100 to build, Wednesday and Thursday work.  The weekend it is FISHING TIME, I'll definatly give you and Roland a shout when I go out
