In my opinion it would depend on where you are fishing. In st francis for example, they swim past the livies and chokka baits and go for bloodworm and prawn.

From what I have found on the zululand coast a well presented chokka bait with lots of foam for movement gets the job done, movement is key

Hi Guys,

Can anyone provide a diagram of how to rig a live mullet with two hooks so that it doesn't die too quickly?

Many thanks

My feeling is that Kob will take almost anything most of the time (bloodworm, prawn, fillet, livies tjokka etc.)

I think the bigger trick is to be at the right place at the right time for Kob - they come and go and even the right water temp and colour can never guarantee a kob.

If I'm specifically targeting Kob, my bait of preference is Okkie leg - not because I think he prefers this, but because a live bait or fillet is more likely to attract a shark before it attracts a Kob. This is definitely the case for my location.

5 inch Paddletail! If they're around, it's a done deal.  Retrieve as slowly as you can bouncing along the bottom or over rocks...
