Arrived on the afternoon of the 21st. After a braai and early to bed we were on the water early the next morning the 22nd. Trolled with small lures (Salmo Hornets #3's)- trolled down the northern bank past the dam wall - had a take at "krokodil baai" but got broken off. Saw many carp still spawning in the shallows. Later in the day tried for kurper with eartworms and floats at the "kabel" - with no luck - not even a makriel. Next day (23rd) saw us sitting in 8 m water fishing for karp (heard from the staff at camp that certain of the other anglers had caught carp even though we saw them actively spawning the previous day)- we caught 6 carp between 1.5 - 2.5 Kg on mielies (perdeby, honey, almond). Next day (24th) caught 5 more carp during the morning in 5m water at "reiersbaai". Caught a beautiful blue on a almond mieliepip (will attach photo) - back on the water late afternoon in heavy weather (lots of wind and waves - almost fell ovrboard more than once) - managed 6 catfish in less than 2 hours. Next day (25th) spent morning at "reiersbaai" and managed 5 catfish (all below 5kg) - spent the afternoon session close to the dam wall in 12 m water looking for better size catfish (caught 6 of better size). All in all it was a geat trip - I love this dam - the water is clear, you get to watch wildlife on the bank from your boat whilst waiting for your reel to run. I usually fish Harties, which now seems like a toilet in comparison. Hope to be back at Loskop soon.
