Any good tackle cleaning products?

Hi guys. Are there any good products out there that will clean my stuff without affecting bait scent? Usually I use dishwash liquid but I'm not too sure about that option anymore. This is just me overthinking things in a quiet fishing period.

Any ideas?

This is what i use on my tackle - look for it at Checkers or the Spar in the braai section .

Works like a bomb ( no explosions ) !

I normally dilute mine and use only 1/3 at a time .

Wash & Wax car shampoo works very well, leaves a polymer film as protection for next time out. Beware dishwash liquid, some of them use salt as a thickening agent - not ideal!

ask Henning for some detail he works for a company that supplies Chemicals and cleaning equipment, i know he did mention something on here before about a bait box cleaning agent that works very well

I fish with a bucket of water next to my bait box. I drop my knife and chokka hammer into the bucket after cutting bait. It keeps the bait and chokka soft so when I get home it isn't dry and hard to remove and means quick cleaning. Plus when I just smashed up a mullet, I want it rinsed off before hitting chokka or at least I want the option to have fish or not on my chokka. I also know where my knife and chokka hammer are at all time as they get lost sooo easily...

At home I use warm water with Sunlight Liquid and those sponges you use for washing the dishes. I drop the chokka hammer and knife into the bucket of water, wash all the other stuff like bait boxes etc and by then any bait has been soaked soft and wipe's off. I use steel wool for my bait box and after that the sponge. Me and my partner's bait boxes are home made from styrofoam so they smell after a few trips but that's fine.

Reels just get left out to dry and packed back into my tackle box and rods well they just get put in the garage. Why do you want to wash your tackle? They get fished in and catch more fish when they got a bit of salt on so the rods get washed once a year with desalt.

Put some Vanilla Essence in your water, I also use some in water to remove smell from hands and to clean the fridge

I never use any detergents or chemicals on my fishing tackle. After a trip I hose it with a high pressure cleaner. I take all the small stuff like my chokka mallet, knife, scissors, cutting board etc, put it in a milk crate and give it a good blast with a high pressure cleaner. After an hour everything is dry and ready to be packed away. My rods, reels and prawn pump gets the same treatment but I spray them with Spanjaard tackle spray afterwards.

I use JIk or eqivqlent. Fill a bucket of water and add 1/4 or 1/2 bottle of JiKI or eqivalent to water. The effect is same as chlorine in swimming pool. No Odors no reedue. Once in the sun after drying no odours. Keep spray bottle to spray bag and boxes. Whalla ::tclaph::tclaph::tclaph::tclaph

Yessir! Good old Nappisan! Used to clean my chef jackets with it. Leaves no smell and works wonders on chillers. As for my rods, every 2nd or 3rd trip I use penn tackle protector. Works like a charm!
