Hi all when fishing for smoothounds what traces do you use and do you use steel in any way?

Hi Guys :imnew I am going J-Bay on holiday late Dec 2013. I am going with my family so time is of an essence. I do mostly fly and light tackle angling. Where can I cast a fly or a spoon for an shad or possibly some smaller :f1shy:f1shy edibles with the kids. Thanks :wfish
