Hi all
I found this post on the Sealine platform. Very interesting reading. I for one always gets it wrong when predicting if the fish will bite. Some theories about the full moon and weather conditions sometimes works but I think it is a case of weather the fish are hungry or not. I even applied the theory to check when the koi carp are feeding, then I go fishing. Needless to say this also did not really work. The only fish I found to be constant in predicting, is barbel.

I was convinced the best conditions for good fishing was a dropping baro, stormy weather, wind picking up, maybe rain on the way, etc.
Last year in such conditions I had a hectic night at my local venue with 5 runs biggest fish was 29Ib, full moon.

Then recently my mate was fishing a super tough lake and caught three on a high baro, no wind, no change in the air, biggest 39Ib, waning moon

I think your confidence is the single biggest factor.

baro pressure definitely has an effect. It does not mean you wont catch...just means one needs to adapt. Confidence means nothing if you get it wrong...

The biggest mistake people make is to buy a baro and a weatherstation...rock up at a dam with a piece of googled info, end up catchin fish when "they shouldnt" and then reckon its nonsense...you can google a crappy boilie recipe roll'em, have an awesome session, and go out again and blank time after time because your bait isnt actually up to scratch....fishing is a game of luck and SKILL, every dam (area) has different baro rules, you have to figure them out...game fish are a lot more sensitive eg bass etc to baro readings

At the end of the day compicating things to much takes the fun out it... Like Johan said dont let it bother you...fish bite when they want to

my point exactly.

It ends up being more of a distraction than anything else.

Some of my best sessions were in times where every single weather factor was "bad" but the fishing was bad.

What about fishing apps LOL - Fishing is now at 68% hahaha

Hey each to his own guys. I suppose anyone can dump 50kg bait and just sit and wait for fish to eventually turn up when they "feel like it" LOL... How many times does one hear from guys > "I dont understand it man, the fish are showing over my spot but I'm not getting any bites?" Ah well lets just put it down to bad luck eh? LOL ... I've used the baro and weather conditions to my advantage several times, and its got me good fish where others just sit there and blank. A big lesson I've learnt is that in general SA anglers dont adapt. Once they have set up the bivvy and put the lines out thats them for the duration of the session... There's more to fishing than that. Having said that I also dont worry about the moon, I havent seen any hard evidence that it works.

Johan Your app is wrong...mine says its 40%

Just goes to show.
The app I use and the bfd on stywe lyne website differs so much
But as they say …a bad day fishing still beats a good day at work

I think as one of the guys here said it's a Confidence factor - However I was fishing in what seemed like great carping conditions with baro pressure fairly up .... blanked 2 days - baits were good and presentation was good then I tweaked everything ever slightly and the fishing turned on ........

How does one get your head around this ? Yet I learned a valuable lesson: I've always been a 'busy angler' at the water trying to buy a bite so my lesson learned: Don't sit on your brain & ass - work the swim - think.

Well today the weather is rather crappy with clouds and low barometer readings ...so I'm going to give it a shot to see what happens.
