I need some clarification On This please .
My argument over this issue arises from a dispute That i am having with a Prominent selector about cob species .

We Are good mates , but I , sadly, do Not share a blind religion that : all fish caught from the beach Are dUSKY, while all of the Fish caught at Sea , are Silver cob .
While I do not dispute the notion that there are 2 cob species , i fail to buy Into the preface that there is a difference in specie, between the cobs Featured in my Pics .
It Matters not who or what , I have simply blacked em out to keep the Catches anonymous .

I Would appreciate anyone with input regarding This topic .

All fine and well My good friend , but- again - no pics of each model .
all sport the toyota bedge - but i kant see the difference between squaretail , silver , and dusky , cob .

What cob are these , pictured in the photos?

how can Anyone Walk up to Me and simply retort" shoh- nice dusky " when he has no effing clue what sort of cob it is , and is only basing his answer purely on what he Read on a link from the internet ??

until then , I'll take" shohh - nice cob " , as being grammatically correct ..........

Far too many scientists in this modern time of ours ........

Howzit Def

In Durbs we don't stress about the sub-sub-sub species classification of the fish we are about to chow :dude:::kznrls
However if you must tell the difference you can always count the scales :dohvvidevb

so far then - no takers .
Tonight i was given another baseless convo about silvers And dusky's .

and yet - Nowhere on the internet , has anyone posted , since 1996 , a scientific picture With visible proof differences between the species , in order to assist someone in the identification of the more Rare species ...

I maintain my stance regarding this for now then .so , I'm not denying The dusky/silver split in the species does not exist , I'm saying : the notion that all cob caught by boat are silvers , and all cob caught by rock n surf , are dusky's , is a complete load of horse poo .

Hi Stuart

It is likely that telling them apart will get continually harder.

It seems that silver females are attraced to dusky males drumming. As there are fewer mating opportunities with their own species, they are "taking it where they can".

Turns out they like a bit of squaretail action as well..

hmmm. Based on this scenario Then - i find it interesting to note how this person beat all scientific odds , and managed to tell the two apart like the 3 of clubs and the 8 of diamonds .....

no dice . i repeat : while i do not doubt the existence of both species : I refuse to believe that boats 130M out from shore are catching specifically Only one species , and Shore anglers , another .....

From Now On - Anyone asks Me what species of cob i caught- I'll tune them " I nailed this Hybrid on a Clone .........." (sic) ..........

Hi Def

Just tell them that you thought it was a dusky silver cross that had hybridised with a squaretail and that you couldn't find it in the regs so assumed that it has no bag limit!
