Einstein wrote this riddle last century and said that 98% of the world’s population would not be able to solve it.

• There are 5 houses that are each a different colour.
• There is a person of a different nationality in each house.
• The 5 owners drink a certain drink. They each smoke a certain brand of cigarettes and also have a certain pet. No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigarettes nor drinks the same drink.
• The question is. “Who has the fish?”

CLUES

1. The British man lives in the red house.
2. The Swedish man has a dog for a pet.
3. The Danish man drinks tea.
4. The green house is to the left of the white house.
5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee.
6. The person that smokes Pall Mall has a bird.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The person that lives in the middle house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The person that smokes Blend, lives next to the one that has a cat.
11. The person that has a horse lives next to the one that smokes Dunhill.
12. The one that smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to a blue house.
15. The person that smokes Blend, has a neighbour that drinks water.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Google also came up with this little gem:

http://amazeingart.com/fun/einstein-quiz-answer.html

If you identified the German as the fish-owner, you did better than many people and should feel good. But did you get the right answer, is this the correct way to solve the problem? No its not! Nowhere in the problem, except in the question, is the word fish found. Thus the fifth pet might just as well be elephants as fish. After a lot of work you can safely conclude that the German has the fifth pet, but you have to ASSUME that the fifth pet is fish in order to conclude the German has fish. You have no basis for making this assumption, however. Note that the "Facts" are carefully separated from the "Question" in this puzzle.
So the correct answer to the Einstein Quiz is that you can't be sure there even IS a fish pet.

I quite enjoyed solving it, the answer is not as important as the procedure followed in solving it, needless to say, googling it is a cop-out. Good one, thanx ;-)

It's not a math problem as much as it is a problem in logical reasoning, the two are not necessarily dependent, this problem especially doesn't require anything more than being able to count from 1 to 5 at best.

We had to go to a payphone to make a call and not one of these digital jobbies, it still had the round dialling keys and the rubber receiver! :?
