Yellowtail in the Kei

Very stoked to finally get a decent size 14.5kg Yellowtail on plug in the Kei, after being cleaned up many times over the years.

Thanks guys, I have been trying to land a fish like this since a teenager at this spot where I grew up in the Kei and spent most holidays. Over the years the YT were either non existent or when they did make a showing I would be cleaned up with only a few small ones landed.

On this days I was alternating plugging between a lighter spinning setup and a heavier casting setup. I hooked one on the lighter setup but could not stop the fish from pulling me into bricks after having it on for a short while. I quickly grabbed my heavy casting setup and made a cast hooking another fish which pulled like made but I managed to stop it and pull it out of the bricks.

The heavy casting setup is a shimano exage 11ft and Shimano tranx loaded with a top shot of 100m of Maxima 16kg line and a maxima 1mm leader. The reel is a machine and casts like crazy I was bombing out all 100m of the 16kg line.

The cool thing is my mate filmed the entire action on gopro from the cast, the hookup and the fight.
