US do you ever wade with yours? And how is the reel handling this?

For how long do you had your Okumas?

Im getting a raw2 80 today so will give feedback in time to come. Few friends that i fish with all have salinas cedros and trios. They are lasting longer than their other reels!

About wading... in pe where i fish wading isnt neccessary although the said reels have been splashed n dunked and are still holding up.

i believe that any new reel must be opened and greased and oiled properly before used.

Do some research online and youll see howmany guys in US n Australia use the said reels.

They land biiiig fish offshore with these reels! Infact these reels are overkill for cobs, elf steenies etc ::tight:

:)..Always amazes me with trend-s and fashion...If one bucks it and does not conform to a certain degree to the sheepel mentality ..then one is negative....and thats not ONLY in the fishing fraternity....BUT...as with fashion and trend-s....there is always HORDES of cash to be made by the manufacteres and those willing to part with the cash for the new technology and fashion...not too unlike motor vehicles....makes for very interesting debates and convo,s around a braai...I must say...

Kenty my view is that if this can make life simpler / easier to fish then I will be willing to give this a go. That is why one must ask the question (s) and make up ones one mind. I will try anything that will give me an edge

Guys I see more and more guys fishing with grinders for rock and surf

1. What is the benefit of a grinder over a multiplier with braid.

2. What is the type of rod one must buy

3. And the reel - and no I cannot afford a buls eye

If you are going to wade with a grinder , then best to go with a Saragossa 10 000 or any grinder that is properly sealed and protected - stay away from the Ultegra if you want to wade.

The Saragossa 10000 takes 550 meters of 40lbs JDB BRAID - my son uses this reel on a Blue Marlin Super slim 80/50 rod - more than adequate to land most fish and non eds that you will encounter on average. The bigger Saragossa reels are simply too heavy for a full days fishing - unless you really want to target big sharks for more line capacity ( abour 900 meters of 50 lbs braid )

"With that said, when you hook a decent fish on a grinder, its not the best piece of kit to have around, but that doesn't happen very often."
