Shimano Twinpower '09 10k

Hi there to all the knowledgeable folks on this forum. I have had an intermittent problem for some time now,and was wondering if anybody else perhaps have had the same experience.

I have 2x Twinpower's which I hold very dear, and have actually caught a couple of landbased game-fish on.I use them for spinning with surface-plugs and spoons(mostly plugs). The problem that I have is that every once in a while I find the braid to enter inbetween the bailarm and the line-roller. Believe it or not,in that tiny highly unlikely space. Most often I feel the additional ''tension'' on the retrieve soon enough and then manually disengage the braid from it's ''trap'' without skipping a beat. This seems to happen mostly when I do a ''popping-motion'' with my fast retrieved surface plug. Obviously this manouvre generates an amount of slack line and this is then mostly when it occurs.

To me(laymans-opinion), it feels that the little L-shaped ridge on the inside of said bailarm(see photo's), could be the cause of this phenomena.I find that at this L-shaped step, that it is the only place/manner where I can manually manipulate the same situation, and actually get the braid to ''hang-up'' behind the line-roller..

Initially,I thought it may be the line-roller that is perhaps ''oblong'' or oval-shaped from all the heavy pulling of fish (I wish),and replaced that after thoroughly checking for any wear on bearing, bush and spacer, inside the line roller. This unfortunately did not remedy the situation and on occasion the situation again presented itself. Plan B was to then replace the bailarm, which I did,yet still it did the same thing every once in a while(perhaps once for every 100 casts,as per the norm)..

Whilst doing homework,I noticed that the Stella 10K seems to have all the same internal parts in the line-roller assembly. The bailarm, however has a different part number, and from comparison it looks like it does not have the L-shaped-step which I suspect may be the problem. However, that would be my last resort and have I already made enquiries regarding the availability with positive results..

Searching the web for any similar problems by other users yielded nothing, and before I have myself checked into a padded-wall-hotel with a single-sleeve-overall,I thought I would, in a desperate final attempt to remain sane, try and find a solution here..

For what it is worth,It happens with up to 50lbs Power-Pro thickness braid, and various thinner diameters down to PE2(30lbs) which is the absolute thinnest that I have used on it.
Here's to hoping somebody may shed some light,or perhaps even re-post to International forums of which you may be a member of.
Thanks in advance.

Please forgive the quality of pics,as it is a very awkward area to photograph.
This one cropped and lightened slightly.

To me it looks like roller is lifted - not all the way down . What is that silver color part in a line with trapped braid? - a bearing ?

The spacer I think you are referring to on the far left in this pic, again from a Stella,All those parts shown share a part-number between Stella '08 and Twinpower '09. I suspect the only difference is in the L-Shape on the bailarm in the first pic. The Stella does not have that L-shape whereas the Twinpower does.
Thank you so much for checking into this, much obliged.

I unfortunately do not have necessary experience on these reels.

As far as I know these are discontinued so you are not easily going to find spares on them.

Here's a schematic I dug up because I have had smilare problems with freshwater baitrunner line rollers and it was as a result of a shield put in the wrong way around (something small and simple)

What is your reels Product code so I can look for the schematic for the exact model....

Craig,for what it's worth.

The ''gap'' reflected in this pic may look exaggeratedly big,it is in fact no more than 1mm wide, and possibly even substantially narrower. I know that it is a highly unlikely place for the braid to slip into, but it does happen, like mentioned above, even with a PE4/50lbs Power-pro(which is rather thick).

Again, it also only happens on the extremely odd occasion, and it may well be so rare that most people are not even aware of this happening. The occurrence is most prevalent when slack-line is generated during a ''chugging'' or ''popping''-motion. It has never happened upon a ''normal'' retrieve of a plug. It has happened on accasion when a spoon is allowed to sink and then ''jigged'' aggressively from the bottom ,which obviously also generates a bit of slack line, prior to letting the spoon flutter down to the bottom again.

They must fir that even with play that they don't create a gap.

Have you tried playing around with the spacers?

I agree Craig,I would have loved for that gap to be completely missing. However on various pics that I can find on the net,do the Stella's and Twinpower's show that gap.

This a random pic of a Stella from an Italian site.I will however just play around with them a bit.
Note the gap.
