Benna I believe that those Water Hyacinth are a sure sign that the water has too much fresh water in it. Those hyacinth plants come from one place mostly? The river on muizenberg side of sonwabe. Possibly very polluted water too, so I stay away bru.

102..If I was to be nearly as lucky! Anyway back to the fishing..

Where would the fresh water land up in the wash, it has a whole different density to the salt.. Would it just disperse in the mass? Light organic material like plant matter would float up anyway and be held in suspension and pushed to where the water is washing at the shore edge. Like in gold panning, organic material is the first to get washed out.

Correct DR, it also depends largely on currents, sometimes if there's a ground swell running and a big side wash you get a band of very "fresh " or substantial lower salinity water, that gets trapped close to shore. Kob and steenies don't seem to mind it, but fish that don't really do estuaries like kollies and gallie don't seem to like it

Salticrax @ Strandfontein, the coast get fed from 3 sources I know with fresh water. Now considering the enormous downpour we had Friday to Saturday, the inzone was fairly 'fresh'

The outlets being..
1: Zandvlei
2: The Dump(Sonwabe)
3: The pipe @ the end of Brokens
4: The outlet @ Beespens.
5: Outlets @ the hump @ Macz
6: Outlet just past Van Zyls
7: The pyp @ Arends

Gallies and Das were absent till Sunday after 4 Hightides.

Interesting.. If you could figure out where they go it would be like clockwork! They don't go too far I'm sure, just drop a kite with a big rotten lump of redbait to an outer reef in the stiff N wind..And have a security company watch your back while you fiddle with all the linework.:?

Ja bru there are plenty outlets, but I think most of the hyacinth comes from the dump are and possibly zandvlei. There was no hyacinth in the bailys area so I'm assuming the current was running towards the pool from muizenberg side

@ Koper

my time to stir the pot, for a while. :)

@ Thika

yip dis great daar, geen nonsens nie, net straight up praat!!
niemand steek dinge weg nie, niemand raak persoonlik nie.

ek sal nog kom Tuna hengel, gee net kans, my trip af kaap toe sal ek nog reel.

@ the rest

Post count???? ek seker dof, net soos William shakespear geskryf het, what is in thy name?

"when you think you have all the answers to fishing, they tend to change the questions"

so newbies, stick around there is so much to learn here, from the members. Sealine is the best rock and surf fishing forum in RSA!!!!

nouja, tyd vir n uiltjie!!

Why? Say your say.

@Oom Tika. Chill old chap. You have no cooking idea what it means to be a T R E N D Y. If life dealt you lemons deal with it. I'm aware of your very bad run of luck in life and I feel for you. We all enjoy this site and your remarks put a sour taste in my mouth. If you do not like what you see when we post use the ignore button.

Peace out.
