Also keen on hitting mofam this month so looking forward to hearing if it will be worth it. Never fished it in Winter but hopefully you'll have some good news for me!

howsit Ian.

Want to go in the next week as well. Misread the date, wanted to know how it went before you even fished. Guess it would be fair lol

Ok, so I arrived at Mofam 9am.
The water looked like glass and steam coming from the water, it looked amazing and very top water inviting (if only it was spring or summer)!

Paid and loaded my tackle in the boat.
Climb on board and it was like a ice rink, the doe from the night iced up and the deck was SLIPPERY! the staff managed to melt some sections for me to climb on board safely :)

I only took 3 rods with.
1. rigged, a texas weight junebug senko
2. 4ft - 6ft white/pink crank bait
3. Buzzbait, red

I decide to cast the buzzbait first, and on the 2nd cast around the "Clubhouse" huge splash but a miss!
My blood was full of adrenaline and I was thinking, WOW this is gonna be an awesome day!

I casted a couple more times and NOTHING! I changed to the crankbait and NOTHING! Then to my texas Senko, NOTHING!

I headed down to "Bay of plenty" fished till about 11:30 on the bottom half of mofam with not even a nibble.
I then headed north towards the " Ski Ramp"

I fished deep, shallow, structure... NOTHING.

Changed from fluke to brushog to senko, eventually got 1 small largie on a junebug senko in about 2ft deep water in wooded green brush structure at 13:15, the bass was not much bigger than a fluke :)

I only paid for half a day so needed to be out by 14:30.
I slowly worked my way back to the jetties with no bass.

I was not successful, but great fun as usual.

Fished Mofam yesterday and although fishing was tough managed to catch 4 decent fish all on the same crank bait fished slow and very close to the structure. Fish seemed to love this lure as they weren't touching anything else on the day. Also fished Eikenhoff dam at the country club a few days ago but wasn't as successful but would love to return with a boat in the summer as it looks like it has potential, massive body of water!

Did you guys have any problems with the Boat, I read on another Forum that the boats can be a little difficult sometimes or have they sorted out the problems?

We went last week end to mofam again and got 9 in total. Avg 1kg. Smallest 500g Biggest 1.3kg.
Caught all fish on junebug senkos and junebug finesse worms.
Boats are stuffed but at least you can fish off them ;)

Awesome my man, sounds like a fun day.

I want to take my father there, just not in the mood to struggle with boats giving problems and such.

Have you had any succes with jigs and spinnerbaits there in the winter or would it be best to fish slow with plastics?

Topwater hard baits, white spinnerbaits, purple and or red buzzbaits, twitch baits all work gteat but more into summer. Winter is a slow plastic fishing time of the year.

i like the place we've been there for family gatherings and a work function... and always get a bit of bass fishing in... had a monstrous charge on a popper i threw near a tree trunk and some reeds there near the jump in the background one march morning.... Thing pushed a bow wave in front of it, but just bumped the popper through the air and 500 casts later didnt want to go at it again...

i've found smaller silver spinners work well, and pumpkin seed or junebug worms and weightless or very small weight flukes... slow slow slow, also around the deeper fallen trees directly accross from the main building. Let it sink all the way down and then work it back through the branches....
