I would like to go fishing at the Natal coast of my get ski sometimes in June or July but never fish there. Can somebody help me with a safe place and no hazels for launching. Places to stay and if you want to go with, it will be much appreciated.
Normally I went to the West coast but would like to make a change.

Westwood, Ballito and Tinley Manor.

I am however assuming you have your skippers, fishing lisence (very strictly controlled),the experience to do a surf launch, etc.

Yes I have Cat, C license and surf launch. All safety equipment do not want to take chances. What fish will be available in winter times.

Hi nreman,
There is only one way to get more off shore hours and that is to go out to sea and do some fishing. I also do not have so many hours but each time I go out I do get more confidence. I don't take chances and still respect the sea. We can talk and maybe go together sometime. The Cape is very far and to go for a weak and the weather doe's not play along is not good. That's why I would like to try Natal coast for a change not so far from where I live.

You've hit the nail on the head right there mate! I need to rack up some hours with a licensed skipper like yourself, and plan to do my CatC sometime this year.

Natal coast would be perfect so let me know when and where.

Hi Herman, just don't get too excited about hitting the North coast and catching a ton of fish.

It is quiet.

I went out four time in the last 2 weeks (about 16hrs) and had 1 fish to show for it (was a nice yellow fin, mind you).

Some nice fish came out from the surf ski's...one guy caught a 38kg yellow fin.

You talk about weather. I find the crappier the weather the more they take the lures. When it is nice and calm and flat, nothing seems to happen.

Lots of bait fish around now, huge bait balls.

One last thing, if you plan to launch at ballito or Tinley, you will need a 4x4 as you need to launch yourself and you will not be able to do it without a 4x4.

We also went out five times in April for about 4 hour each time.

Tried everything I know. Only one rockod that took on dead bait.

Other guys went out 35km deep and brought back 12 tunas. Other guy was lucky and caught a saily close to containers.

Yip, Lourens, my brother is even thinking of selling his ski, as he is tired of catching fook all (and he even stays in ballito, so goes out often)

But you should see the pic of the 38kg tuna caught on Saturday on live bait from a surf ski; apparently pulled the guy for about 1km....dream fish....but frustrating when you catching nothing.

Thanks guy's for the replies', this is the way of fishermen's , some day's it is good and some day's it just don't want to work out. At least you have tried and did what you like. It is a hobby and I enjoy this a lot. I am not so young anymore but still it is good for my mind and body and relaxing to get away from all the daily stress and stuff you know. For me nothing is so lekka when caught a fish and eat it fresh. Satisfying.

If you comfortable with surf launches then Umkomaas is ok, can launch out the river when tide is high enough as well. I launch there. you will need a 4x4 as well, no tractors etc there.
