Hi Alan, there is alot of places where one does not need a bakkie, even macs you dont always have to have a bakkie but I dont think you allowed to drive there anymore anyway. I think it is just to go fishing in a group rather than by ones self. If we can get this together, we could have these meet ups and fish together as a group which will make it pleasant, festive and just more safe. Once we have established the group, we can get details regarding contacts and it will be a simple matter of a SMS or something similiar if you want to join.

This concept can work, but it depends on reliability, dependability, time put into it,some cash split amongst participants, etc.

Example:I met a Sealiner, about 5 years ago, then I discovered he was running a Security company. So,while we fished one day,I asked him if he could help with the security for 'Nightfishing in safety of Numbers' if I place Sealine thread.

Long story short,I placed the thread,my Securty connection chap, brought along another security guard working for him,who was designated as car guard, and we had 3 or 4 nite fishing missions.Guess the Spot we chose?

We fished Wolfgat, great fishing spot,I'd recently got some Beeg Cob in daylight hours, but spot has lots of crime.

It worked like a fishing dream come true, with regular calls to Security guard, the only problem we had most of time was the planning and organisation,as we could never switch the gale off.We had + 20 guys every time we fished Wolfgat, and not an ounce of trouble.

Each guy gave a donation, mostly around R10 each, and car guard came away with like R150/R160 for a 2 to 3 hr shift. He was happy,we all were in fishing heaven.

So,it can work.BUT,not everyone is up to speed with Internet and Sealine. So rather use and have the best of both worlds rather, and use Sealine as well as Wattsapp or bbm for more efficient comms.

Also,if you have 10 guys minimum,5 guys can scout elsewhere and wattsapp you while you're at Wolfgat, for example, and then keep you posted if they catch, and you can join them and the fish frenzied area.

Lastly,no offence, but not everyone is reliable due to last minute commitments, etc, and best would be to work on 60% success turnout rate,
IOW,if 10 want to fish,probably 5 or 6 would pitch,so don't work with less than 10 potentials.

Maybe even chat to Police at Macs police Stations, and other police stations around that vicinity, and invite these guys along. Maybe Monabisi Cop can assist with this.

All the Best!

Hi Walt, yes, I dont think it will work as exactly planned but one has to keep trying. It will be worth it even if one just gets to fish like you did once or twice in a season, especially where the good spots are and where the fish are coming out. There are enough guys, just to get them onboard. I have thought about the security thing myself, and am going to see if i can arrange something similiar to what you have mentioned.

Also I think an underlining here is to get to know the guys personally, that way things also fall into place easier. We have to keep trying though, Im sure alot of the time the guys will still go fish alone or in smaller teams but there might just be that once that we all go together to a spot which one wouldnt normally venture to. If 10-20 guys get to know each other, less friction on sealine..LOL...and then most of it can be done outside of sealine too.

Word of warning, something to administer and bear in mind.

There are predators who follow fishing sites to prey on anglers. It's so simple to pitch up at a location, and say you're there to fish, and there may be ulterior motives.

So,what I did was,get a description of vehicles anglers drive, including registration to ensure there was no room for error.I had all the details on computer, emails, tel Nrs,Next of Kin(Just joking!)

Also, Sealine Sticker on bumper would be of benefit as well to ensure you don't approach wrong person, and you can ID the Sealine Connection.

I also think you need 1 or 2 guys to head it up,and bear in mind you can approach the other sites if you want extra numbers.Maybe a mini comp to get it started, small prize, may be bragging rights just to get it up and going.

After first success, some fish posted,it will be A for Away,as 'Night Time is The Right Time'.

Now you have some numbers,I think it best to 'Kickstart' this by initiating a new thread, like 'Nitefishing, safety in numbers'!Who's in?'

And then send a pm to Admin, maybe Koper,to establish if you can get go ahead for permission.

Apologies if I seem to be butting in,but been there done that type thing.

I'd join in a heartbeat if not for commitments.

Speak to security vehicle personnel when fishing out that way,get friendly with them, perhaps they'll join you fishing. You WILL need some guys with Firepower, get my drift,if the Crap hits the fan.

Security guys know the ropes, they've had training, know how to handle situations, maybe diffuse situations without taking action.

Plus they work in conjunction with the SAPS,and can get back up sharp.

Thanks,Chum.How're you doing?

Pulled my gear out the angling archives recently, got a couple galjoen, surprised myself with one on my very 1st cast, fish couldn't resist temptation of my fresh Witmossel, lol.

Dig to share beach with you and the Buds again sometime.

I hear Macs is back to normal? Was wondering about a weekday morning throw down there. But need some surety that it's 'A for Away',before taking up the Macs return.

Angus?Hear he's resigned or taken early retirement from R & S - Probably caught his fill.

Sorry for Hijack!
