Saldanha

Can anyone please assist me with some info?
I'm planning a trip to Saldanha for some overnight fishing and would like some info on low and high tide spots.
I normally fish in front of the camping site, Pedro's, the little basin in front of the Seaharvest factory, the basin as you go through the boom gate to get to the mosselvlotte, at the mosselvlotte and the point at the end of the road at the mosselvlotte. If there's any other spots I've missed can you please point them out?
As you can see I've got a couple of spots, but I've got no clue when to fish which spot depending on the tide and wind direction.
I've seen some nice bloukoppe coming out at various spots, but always seem to arrive just too late or too early and when the fish arrive my prawn is almost up or my prawn is pap.
Can you indicate which of these spots produce on low or high tide please.
I've picked up that the fish feed more on the rising tide than the ebb and try to be on a selected spot two hours before the tide is truly high.
I think the prefered wind direction for Saldanha is southeast and southwest?
A full and new moon also produce better results?
Water temp between 16-18 degrees?
I pump for bloodworm in front of Hoedjiesbaai hotel and prawn in the basin as you go through the boom gate to the mosselvlotte. Are there any other spots to pump for mud prawn as I usually have to go in very deep to get to the prawn?
I've never fished any of these spots at night, but have heard from locals there that they have more success during night time hours.
I know this is a lot to ask, but if you can find the time to help me with this info I'll be very grateful.

DHW thank you, but I've read these threads and it forms part of my Saldanha angling folder.
The information I'm looking for is more detailed. I know firsthand knowledge is the best way to learn, but a few pointers from the local anglers would be nice.
The past weekend for instance I had the opportunity to chat with a couple of local anglers and they told me about night fishing for stumps. On the spot me and the guys with me decided to stay on after dark to see this for ourselves. The locals gave us a hiding because they had fresh prawn and ours where pumped the afternoon in Langebaan, but we saw some real nice big stumps come out. We on the other hand basically just fed the stumps with the small dead prawn we had.
This past week we made ourselves a live-well to keep our prawn as fresh as possible.
So you see how just getting info from the local anglers can help you be better prepared and boost your chances of hooking a nice fish.
PM me your number and I'll give you a call on Saturday or just be on the look out for a white CK GWM bakkie.

hahah no Problem I totaly agree with u. Im also on the info hunt and snatching as much possible info from the locals. This coming Friday im gonna try a tip off and go to the old wreck and black rocks. its walking distance from my house anyway. So on low tide @ 9 im getting prawns there and bloodworm comes out there often aswell.

So on the push between 13:30 til 16:00 maybe im gonna try for Blacktail(Kolstert)

The local guy that usaly fish there told me he got some nice sizes there.

But it wil be the first for me on that spot so i will be sure to report back.

And it seems like very good Fishing weekend but my wife want to go to cape town Friday night for weekend so that is my only time slot.

They also told me pedros is very nice spot. But only in the early morning or evenings acording to them. So yes, Slowly but surely whe are getting there:fbash

My apologies DHW! Don't know why I did not see your post before now.
We basically took a 10 liter plastic drum with a lid and fitted a tap on the bottom. The battery operated fish tank pump we mounted on the side and just drilled a hole for the tubing to the aerator stone inside the drum. We use an ice pack to keep the water cool and also do frequent water changes. We use the dead but still fresh prawn first and keep the live prawn for later.
The basin is in front of the Seaharvest factory. There is a big green tree opposite the factory. You'll see a little cement ledge to the left of the tree. We throw from there towards the boats moored in the basin.
Hope this helps.

Taahir,
I've only fished Saldanha with a northwest once before with limited success, but I got the following advice from an angler that has fished Saldanha extensively. Northwest wind in the morning can work, but the stumps don't like overcast conditions. They'll feed slowly until the sun breaks through. Hope you have some success!
