hi all sealiners

I have a 25hp Mariner on a Aquaquad, and I must say this is a fantastic craft. Super light to tow, easy to launch is an understatement, very economical, stable etc etc...
In other words I am happy and satisfied, except for: it is a one man craft only because of the 25hp. And I would love to take another person with me through the surf from time to time.

1) Do I buy a 40hp? Got nice prices on Titan engines (apparently they are a low end market target from Yamaha... is that right?)

2) Do I modify the existing 25hp (so, the same as to what they do on the racing duck engines, by using smaller engines tuned and heated up - thus a lighter engine with more horses)
Another motivation for me to opt for this choice is because I do have 2 25hp motors at home. One older yamaha and a newer Mariner (on the AQ).

Is anyone familiar with Titan motors?

hope to hear from you.

Titan are not linked to Yamaha at all. They may have tried to copy the Yamaha motors but that's as far as it goes. Another Chinese brand that resembles Yamaha is Parsun ... there is a thread here somewhere with many happy owners.

I would not suggest blue printing your 25hp! Rather sell and get something a bit bigger.

Hi. Do you have the aquaquad clx? If so, i will go for a 40 to surf launch with 2 up. I have a Honda 30 4 stroke on my clx and will not do surf with 2 . With this motor i can fish the whole day and go long distance without using a tank of petrol!!. Send me a mail and i can send you photos of my quad and mods to make it a very nice fishing platform.

hi Belindau, please pop me some pics of your rig, my email is francois.harmse@gmail.com ( I can not pm you).
I have requested some quotes on rails and a chair for my AQ from AQ themselves.

I found out that my AQ is indeed a CLS, and thus 3m in length according to AQ's technical specs.
When measuring it manually - it is 2.92m, and thus 8cm not worthy of a cat-e certification (oh mannnn, so close...)

So i had a chat with AQ about this (who initially guaranteed me even the CLS is fully seaworthy).
Their response: "just put on an extra black pointed cone at the back and glue it nicely flush on the pontoon, and that is it..".
According to them, SAMSA and the ppl who refused to initially cert it as cat-e, that will do.

As long as the vessel is 3m or longer from tip to tip.
Crazy world! But rules are rules.

So, for that reason I will stick with a 25hp, and 1 up only. ;-)
