Had a look at the low tides forecast for the dates in December (14dec - 1 jan)looks like most of the days will be diveable... if conditions permit..

It has been approved that limited recreational diving of west coast rock lobster in super-area 7 for the duration of the 2013/2014 recreational fishing season be allowed.

Great stuff Cobmaster

Is it linked to research or weigh ins at the scales or is it based on the accessibility of diving at Melkbos.

Hi CobMaster

Has anyone tried to buy a kreef permit from the post office yet.

There is a rumour doing the rounds that they are not allowed to sell them yet.

If anyone has tried to buy one then please let us know as soon as you are able.

Yes we tried in CApe Town and they said we are only allowed on Friday, I take it they are waiting for the info to be gazetted first.

Hi CobMaster

That is just insane. Could there be a problem with the old Gazette being in place?

Hi Stealth

I spoke to a lady at the post office near me and she said that there had been a disagreement between DAFF and the post office over fees.

No hassles getting a permit now.

Care elaborate on that... fees going down or up? Although i think in the press release they did say that the fees were going to remain at R92.

Hi Fishin

That is why I thought it was strange. All permit fees for all permits and licences and are gazetted together and that includes the permit fee and permit issuing fee.

I can't remember how the R92 is divided between DAFF and the post office.

well judging by the weather forecasts it looks as if we have already lost 2-3 days of the season.

Melkbostrand seems to be looking good for tomorrow 8am.

http://magicseaweed.com/Melkbosstrand-Surf-Report/873/

Low tide at 7:46am, 0.9-1.3m low waves, 13kph winds... just not sure how clean water will be.

Saturday not looking bad either... sunday surge will pick up big time.

I explained to wife the shortened version of the season and she has booked me for the next two weekends so this weekend is all mineeeee :) :)

Jb... on one of the other websites.. there is talk of the Dept. of Sports and Recreation now taking DAFF to task... thus the delay in getting it gazetted...
Have you heard anything along these lines?
