is it normal for pontoons to deflate

It doesn't actually deflate. The air becomes cold and then shrinks causing a lowered pressure inside the pontoons. Once the day temp picks up the pontoons will be at the same pressure unless you have a hole somewhere.

That’s true but watch out the opposite is also true. If u inflates the tubes early in the morning and the day is warm the pontoons can Burt. Happened many times on Loskop dam with rubber ducks. The altitude also has an effect on the pontoons.

As said, don't over inflate when cold as it will expand as it gets warmer.Shouldn't be a problem if you have safety release valves fitted though.

Always keep the pontoons to at least 80% of capacity as when soft they hang on the end points and can tear or the glue will pull from the hull.

To check for leaks on pontoons, take a 2L coke bottle, make a small hole in top, fill with water and a little sunlight liquid, shake well...
Pump pontoons and now squirt water over pontoons, leaks will quickly show as bubbles.
Most pontoons to leak a little, especially on the valves
story about cold and hot air is true, don't over inflate, they can burst on the seams.
