Hi Duarte

Thanks for great news and updates. Awesome to see the action still red hot. Shame about the 792, however it happens as you say, and you have contributed greatly in all the other releases.

Well done man.

Thanks for the kind words Ignatius, it is a pleasure to share my fishing experiences in dreamland!
We hooked that fish in 44 meters of water…pretty shallow for such a big lady. But it seems that´s were they live @ Baz!!!
Cheers mate…::tight:

Hi Eran,
Thanks for the kind words, when are we going to see you this side of the world again???
Yup, it really is an unfortunate situation that luckily hardly ever happens and I can count with my two hands the number of fish that have died on us (sharked, tail wrapped or other) in the 13 years we have fished at Bazaruto.
But sadly within the same week Alex who was fishing on our sister boat IBO caught a number of fish and also had one die tail wrapped that went 507 lbs. The fish was caught on a YFT live bait on a circle.

Willem, we call the chief of the local village and everybody (and a mean a whole bunch of people) come down with pangas and divide it for themselves and the family...I assure you nothing, absolutely nothing goes to waste!!!

Good thing I did as it was Morgans 50th Marlin as a Captain, so good on him and nice to have those pics.....

About 45 minutes later they got the fish by the boat and called it 500....

It was a good relaxing week and I had the family over for a few days.
After two months of solid fishing it was good to have some easy fishing and send some quality time with the Gretha and the little guy....
We had an awesome day at paradise Island...;)

cool man.
how do they taste?

have seen other fish, at vidal and Durban, where the fish was given to parks board and the workers at Durban ski boat club.

yip nothing goes to waste, that is clear.

obviously there will be casualties of war.
not all can be saved.

enjoy, maybe one day, i'll make a trip up there.

cheers

Willem,
I do eat them. I did so years ago and will never forget the smoked Marlin the guys did when I worked in Mauritius about 15 years ago...delicious!!!
I do not eat billfish anymore and neither do my local deckhands...that is how much respect they have gained from these magnificent fish!
Would be great to have you up here one day!!!
Cheers

Well, back to fishing................. we had Tim & Ross and their kids from Cape Town for 3 days. It was their second visit with us and they are awesome experienced guys to fish with and we had an absolute blast.
Even tough we did spent some time game fishing for the young chaps we also tried hard for Marlin and ended up raising 4, with 2 strikes and releases.
The first day we started game fishing between V mile ad sailfish but it was pretty slow. The water which had been pretty green had moved in and there was a distinct blue water line in about 100 meters. After a couple hours we decided to put the big guns out and as I turned deep for my second tack to the water line, not 10 minute as after setting the lures, a fish came hot on the short left smoker and we hooked up...

We finished the day with the small boys catching small kingies and other stuff on the light spinning tackle by the reef.
