Hi all,

I have been googling and googling....wanting to change my line for my upcoming jet ski trolling fishing trip (not sure what line is currently on).

What would you guys suggest?

I like the 30LB for general offshore work, 35-40LB for LARGE gamies, 20LB is plenty for snoek(you could go lighter). Good abrasion resistance, quality product, not the thinnest line on the market - but it's never let me down. Good balance between cost and durability/knot strength etc. When using 2 sticks I like to use the Chameleon and Ultragreen combo. Makes it much easier to follow lines when you get that double dorrie hookup. Ad some Fluoro leader, say 50lb for gamies and 30lb for Natal snoek.

Good morning, had to check the spools at home. I use the Siglon(Sunline) Fluoro, comes in 50m, and also the small Maxima spools. Have not really tried anything else(knots hold nicely).
Recently purchased some Maxima Treasure line, thinner diameter and stronger breaking strength.. haven't really put it to the test. Methinks when gamefish take looong runs it will surely have less water resistance/same strength.

Hi all, at the fishing shop yesterday, I was swayed to purchase siglon, 30lb, just did a quick test last night on strenght comparing it to my current line....not happy

Taking it back and will get the Maxima line (should have taken it in the first place)

Hi Juno, confused (from 1st post to checking your spools), do you think the Maxima around a 35lb is a good all rounder (as you never know what you hook into when trolling)

The reason I was swayed to get the Siglon was because the guy said it is "later" technology, vs Maxima (old school), but then another shop guy came along and said that most still all buy the Maxima for trolling....I'm going back to get this

Yes, I am also constantly confused with all the options available these days::S It all comes down to personal preference..I like old school German and Japanese engineering, same with motorcars. 35lb is fine, I don't know what reels you are using but try to have at least 350m of line spooled. On a Jetski it's not too hard to chase a fish, most larger pelagics won't take more than 200m on their first run. Say you're live bait was out 20m - 35m it should give you 100m to play with?! Living life on the edge.

Shimano Trinidad 20 (2 off), a bit of a small spool, but a nice reel. I should get about 300m on it.

Must say even when I pulled in my 25kg cuta, it never ran much line out.
Even yellow fin tuna not real line pull out.

I think the most I have heard is when my brother hooked into a GT, almost took all his line

Sh it I am now in the mood for fishing.....thanks for the assistance Juno
