Thanks for the feedback but exactly where is Skuimkop?
Remember I am in Cape Town and I see you are in Durban
I'm here, lol. Although I'm in Pretoorsdorp I did stay in Capetown for 14 years and know where the barbel spots are.
Here follows:
Voelvlei dam - just outside Malmesbury. Contact Urs 021 4245613 / 083 541 4143
Kwaggaskloof dam -(Area Manager) Carol Davids 023-3408000 / 023-3404150 of Mnr Rooms 023-3408000 (uitbreiding 8112)
De Drinken - Morreesburg. Contact Henrietta Bester 022-4332597 / 082 894 8512
Palmiet Valley Dam - Wellington (private venue). Contact Ivan Harris 021-8643317
Magic Forrest - Durbanville. Fish the top dam for the bigger Cats.
Sonstraal
Vygeboom
Doordekraal
Liesbeeck river.
Breede river
and this one: take the Constantia/Hout Bay off-ramp on the M3. If coming from Cape Town then it is easy once you've taken the offramp - just before you reach the stop street T-junction with Old Constantia Main road there is an open field on your left that is part of the clover-leaf off-ramp - it has a few large trees and and is open - it was a site camp for the roadworks and sewer upgrade - pull in, park in the open and walk towards the bridge (the M3 going overhead) - you will notice what looks like a driveway going down to the trees - walk down there and cross the shallow drif thru the stream - you will now notice a beautiful tree-lined pond - quite bi and very deep - its about 3m deep 15-20 meters in and almost 2m deep right in front so be careful! There are numerous gaps in the trees where you can fish from.
Your best bet for big Cats would be:
1) Breede river. Have a look at this link http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=52752&forum_id=64&highlight=oh+snap
2) Voelvlei - if you can get in.
3) Palmiet Valley
