I have been talking much about HELLS GATE here on the Ski Vee Fan Page -
this picture is of HELLS GATE from the High Dune on the Main Land Side.
As you can clearly see that it is Flat on this day and you could reverse your Ski Boat out to the open sea.

But I will post a picture later of why this passage between the Main Land and Inhaca Island is named HELLS GATE.

The SURF is like nothing you have seen in your life before

Aahhhh, the evergreen skivee........I have quite a bit of experience with Skivee boats - I have had two, a 12'6" and a 14'6" CC. They are cheap, no frills well made boats, (although it has one of the wettest rides of any boats I have ever been on if cutting across a wind.)

I have been on been an a few 'well finished' and 'expensive' boats that rattle and creak when heading into a heavyish sea and have even been on a duck where the CC ripped off when beaching hard, but have never heard of too many problems with Skivees - and I have been on quite a few.
It is said to be the best selling boat in SA with over 12000 built.

This is my 14'6" - built by Dave in  2000 and powered by 2 x 25's. This boat has had over 800 couta put on her deck!!!!

I have a 13'6'' ''Skivee'' with an old 60 Yamaha and a 44lb watersnake motor. does anyone know the actual make of the hull as it's a generic skivee
I use her freshwater only and mainly at Jozini chasing Tiggers. She handles the water well, my last trip we had the Southerly arrive in seconds and we had a 15km haul back to the launch site and she handled the rough water very well.

Your Ski Vee looks so well kept
The Dark Blue Hull is a great colour

You should bring it to Santa Maria "INHACA ISLAND" where your boat will be perfect for the Bone Fish in the protected flat waters

Hahaha, Tsutsuma its never enough beer!!

The pic is taken 11 years ago at Linga Linga when there was nothing there, we started going up in 1996 and used to have to take almost everything, (a lot of it on my dangerously loaded Skivee across from Maxixe which is about 12kms)   We were involved in getting a lodge up and running and had shares but sadly, even though things were done legally over 7 years, we lost it all to corruption. It was no real loss of  finance as we got a lot out of it but once things started coming together it had the makings of a very special place!!

Initally we used to go up for 2-3 weeks at a time, but in later years 10days was the norm. As Inhambane is 1100kms from Durban the SkiVee was best choice for towing and as it lived on the beach was easy to push in. (try pushing a cat around on a beach) Its also light on fuel which was a major problem back then.

The Paradise pic is also on Linga but around the corner in the bay on the way up to Morrunben.

That area has some of the best couta fishing in the world, mostly shoal size with my biggest being 18kgs, in one day in June 2000 we landed 56 couta on that SkiVee!!!
