Barbel at the Vaaldam

Could anybody please help. I'm Looking for info on where around the Vaaldam to target the big cats. Be it from the side or from boat. What is the best bait. Some I see prefer fish heads other boilies.

If youf got A boat you can go anywhere. Look for the old river bed and drift day old chicks. If you want the big ones and your catching from the bank use big bait, at least say A 2 kg carp. Alot of guys like Tago cause the old river runs casting distance from the bank. But there is A lot of fishing activity there so the chances of A big one is less.

kollege plaas is also good cat water... old river bed is about 120m from the side when the dam is full curently its very low so all your line go directly into the old river bed...

 

yes then tago or inloop will also be a good bet

Oranjeville holds a lot of big cats.

 

Try crass carp heads ... or even a whole grassie ....
