How do you guy think this will work as a quick change swivel? The guy at the shop said it is strong because it pulls against each other.

Test it. Tie pieces of 50lb braid to both ends then one end to very strong anchor pole or bakkie rowbar other end you pull see what breaks the braid or the quick link thingamabob. Be very carefull use welding gloves or loose a few fingers.

I made some traces for tomorrow,it is the same as my normal trace just with the swivel in it to change the hook quickly. You can attach any weight to the sinker slide but I prefer a 7 oz if I am taking my baits out so I can really tighten the line.Leader is maxima ultragreen .60,the hook snoot is t-line.70

This one is the j hook trace with two 10/0 super j hooks.I will be using a live bait or whole carp on this trace.

This one is my circle hook trace same as j hook just with a 12/0 super circle.I will scale it down according to the size of the bait. The 12/0 is good for large heads and half carps,8/0 is good for average heads, big platties or chicken bombs and the 5/0 is good for small heads,a smallish plattie or single/double chick.

So I attached it to .9mm and I could pull that with all my weight till the knot parted I did this 5 times and it still looks fine not bent or anything,so it will probally pull a barbel but I would add thimble to it before I tie knot directly on it.

You guys must try the power swivels like below. I haven't found any swivels on the market stronger than these bad boys.

These are strong buggers. I actually bent open one of my hooks when I tested them. I bought mine from oversees (http://www.tacklebox.co.uk/terminal-tackle/swivels-and-links/nash-tt-quick-change-rig-swivels.html) but just before I left Cape Town I saw them in two local stores. So if Cape Town has them they must be available here in Freestate and Gauteng so just look ou for them.

Present it with it's eyes open, hahaha.

For fishing in the rain I make use of way more red fluoro but you are going to have problems getting Cats on the line when the water levels are rising drastically. Had the same scenario at Gariep. Earthworms and/or snails dumped in red fluoro in the grassy banks where the dam water 'took over' works well but it's only for fun with the smaller Cats.

Ok that's to bad so catfishing for me is done for the year? How long after it has rained and stuff does it take for the bite rate to be the same again? The dead red blood spray will probally work the same as the red flouro?

Catching during (during meaning while the rain are falling) the rain almost always produces very good catches for me but the problem starts when the dam level rises drastically so if the dam levels don't rise to much go out there and target those Tekkie Bekke.

Combine the Dead Red with the red fluoro. The Dead Red gives the sent trail and the red fluoro the red cloud in the water.

I also find that I catch better in the rain but not when there is thunder and wind.
