It looks like a dusky rubberlip, but didnt act like what the article stated, this one was caught on a floating whole sardine (minus the head), with a 70 pound trace line and a 7/0 hook, and the bite was fierce.
If i use the whole sardine i normally cut the head off, cut it open, put my foam float inside the sardine and then tie it up with ghost cotton.
So maybe i just got lucky with that one!

nice catch but when in doubt as to what species it may be, I think it best to rather take a photo and release the critter
