Had a look at these rods in the shop and was really inpressed with the workmanship and feel of the rods. They are super light and slim.I am considering getting either the 5-6 Oz or the 7 Oz.Does anyone have one of these or has anyone tried one out ? Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

The Kingfisher in Durban just got them in last week, the 6/7 and 8oz. 1 piece rods. Lovely light and nice cosmetics. I would love to get the 7oz. Ray the sales guy said his mate bought the 6oz and is really happy with his rod.

I've been building a few in the 400 and 430 range and am doing a Grinder (the 50 code)a /6 and a Casting (100 code) a /7 at the moment. Went and cat them to get a feel and to confirm guide placings etc. The 50 series has a better compression in the tip and mid section and launches weights and baits with a fixed spool reel The 100 series for casting is crisp and fast and being so thin really winds up a piece of lead and from what I can feel it will have plenty pulling power because the base of the rod (bottom half) is a good solid lever and will really pull hard The thin profile makes it to have 30% of the surface area even the thin super mandrel and it allows you to generate awesome tip speed with good backbone to punch a weight. Nice thick walled blank that will make it robust and stronger than other thin walled blanks. If you can make the price I believe it will be a great buy and I know it's doing well in the Cape with good catches with it and some rave reviews

Thanks for your input .If I decide to get one of these I will have to decide between the 6 Oz and the 7 Oz. Kinda think the 6 Oz would be more versatile.

I've got the 50/6 and paired it with the Ultegra 14000. It's an insane combo that throws a mile and has heaps of back bone.

Rudolph @TUCKERS convinced me on a 6oz in the week. Took it out twice already and yes, its easy on the arms, great action - and casts are great... definitely got some extra distance, but that ain't important.

Also bought the 6 oz,and very happy with it.With the crappy weather we have been having in CT I havent really fished as much as I would have liked, but I reckon it is definately going to be my rod of choice in the future.

SS(supa slim) 100( 100% HMG) 100(Dont know what this code means) 430(overall length of the rod) I wonder what the OZ rating of the 40,60,80? Can one order various lengths in the blanks?

Moyeni... yes right, ive sold two of three 'extras' which I have replaced with 2 only Blue Marlin, one of which is this SS100/100 Wow, what a rod! I played now with a 7oz, big game 0.6 and a 1mm wind-on,throwing with a DC30 getting a constant distance of 150mtrs!! It can only get better! Bump here........, to let you know what an awesome rod the Blue Marlin SS is. Never had many days to fish, yet the few times I did I am very pleasantly surprised with this rod. My casting style has improved, releasing at the highest point (rod vertical) I am able to toss the 7/8oz a good distance. If you are in the market for a 'super' rod, go out and spoil yourself. ![]()
