How is Club Amigos

I don’t want to sound backward but I need to ask this since I now & again read deeper into post & see that some anglers are still racist. I can understand when members of a certain societies or race groups have certain traits that really get on your nerves & at times you just telling the truth but then other times its just racist or prejudice.

Well my question is. Is it safe for coloureds to go to places like Club Amigos in Ventersdorp.  Im not only colored but Im also muslim (not Indian though) & practicing so you would see the whole outfit & my wife always covers her head & stuff like that so at some venues we hear comments of kulie this & kulie that, assuming that the other anglers think we Indian if you know what I mean. [/b]

Im looking for family spots that could keep me happily fishing & my 5 & 2 years olds busy & club Amigos looks nice & neat.

I fished amigos plenty of times and I have seen a lot of indian and coloured people fishing there without any issues.

they get treated he same as every other angler visiting the grounds.

the only problem is that fishing is a bit difficult there these days.

google goosebay canyon. its on the banks of the vaal river below barrage and also very safe.

you will enjoy it more there and it is closer to florida

have fun

We are all always looking over our backs.
Because of crime, not racism any more.

We went there two / three months ago for the first time.
We stayed in the main camping area and the waterfront was chock a block. Even with what looked like 200 rods in the water, I doubt if anybody actually caught anything.

when you turn to the left, there are two more camping areas (still part of Amigos.)
The first still has some ablutions with electricity, while the furthest one only clean camping ground.
Area 3 is the best for fishing.
Long casts - 140 / 160m puts you onto the fish.
More than that I can't really help.

I got some truly South-African service from the bosslady who seemed to be in charge of things. The other members of my party arrived later on the day, & I asked if they could settle the full amount when they got there, but she vehemently refused. I got upset & said that I wanted a refund, upon which she replied that she speaks AFrikaans, &  'what dont I understand about no refunds on deposits'. Not wanting to lose my entire deposit, I had to drive back to town & find an ATM. Not cool. I booked two stands, & while I was setting up camp, working on both sides, her husband drives by & tells me that there are stand markers & I was covering two stands with my car, not very politely I might add. I told him I booked the two stands for myself & the second part of my group who were still coming, to which he did not reply.

The other campers were cool, the place is nice, for family, but the fishing leaves much to be desired - lots of small carp & muddies. Personally I would not go back there.

so was it just bad manners from them or do you think it was colour related. I know some of these camping places you cant see a difference between the two. I was at lovers rock once. when we started jumping on the trampoline the owner imediately called one of the workers to take it off. he said that its because they dont alow more than one at a time. I was sitting with my two year old helping him jump & he called that two at a time but earlier there was a white lady doing the same thing & he didnt say a thing.

Cant say really, just mentioning what happened. If the place was great for fishing, I would've minded, & gone next door....the family friendly factor is in my opinion the only thing it's got going for itself....but that just me..
