I am not sure if this comp is specifically meant to be for a sea fish as you mention rock and surf, but I thought I would share this anyway. This pic of some freshwater fish was taken in Namibia just across the SA border at a place called Ai-Ais. These fish were trying to jump the dam wall as I think they were originally bred and released at Hardap dam which is much further up towards Windhoek. So I guess they were trying to get back to their original spawning ground. This river runs through the Fish River Canyon and if I am not mistaken I think it is or either links up to the mighty orange River. See if you can spot the two fish.

Tackle: Penn 6000 Coffee, Berkley Cobalt Surf Rod, Gatorbraid

Location: Dana bay (Mosesel bay)

Bait: Medium Chokka, floaty, Lumo green skirt

Weather: Warm (water about 21 deg), night

Weight: 7.5kg

Specie: Kob

Fight Duration: 10min

Story: Every year we go to Dana bay, to my dads holiday home. We have tried and tried and never really caught anything of value. This particular year it was extremely hot (days were 32 deg with no wind and clouds) and everyone in the area struggled to catch. We decided to tackle kob at night and after sending a couple of livies out in this gully I decided to use my lighter tackle and cast a chokka bait into the waves next to the gully. Two minutes in I got a light bite and it went quite, every now and again my grapnel kept lifting and I decided to reel in. As I got closer it felt like my line was scrpaping against the rocks, but it was coming in slowly. As my line reached the last wave it shot left and I knew I had something. This kob did not put up any fight, with braid I did not know that I had something (might be the fisherman). Soon after my dad and brother followed suite and we each caught a kob.
