Hey guys,

Let's hear what does the general house wife think about us guys fishing all the time and ofcoarse don't forget the smell!!!

For starter i would like to tell you about my wife... She hates fish and offcoarse me going fishing, when i get home after a fishing trip she sents me straight to bath (covering her nose as if i just came from a dump site).

Never mind the day i bring a great adible home, she hates that "she doesn't eat any seafood or fish" frankly i think if she had a chance she would sell my fishing rig in a second. But never the less i put her mind at ease by asking her if she would mind me going to a Bar, or fishing... You guys can only guess what her reaction is!

And the days i stay out to long according to her, i just tell her that i had to use all the bait so her deep freezer wouldn't smell like fish, and on she goes thinking what a favour i did her...

And off i go fishing with a clear concions and happy heart...

So guys what does your wife's/girlfriends think?

cheers

"Sharky"

It's a good thing most of the wives won't see this thread lol:dban:

Well at the moment i only get to fish when on holiday being in jhb at the moment, so it's even worse, as she'll say i spend to much time fishing at not enough time with her:spite. Tried bringing her along, but after an hour i'll start hearing, "there's nothing biting, lets go home, or, i'm bored.... :blah:blah:blah"

So i think it's safe to say that genrally woman don't enjoy us going fishing much:uzi

Unfortuantly I live 700km's from the closest beach, but I try to fish at least once every 2 months, and off coarse December holiday always gets planned around hot fishing spots.

however, my wife enjoys me-time, so she never minds me going fishing, infact she encourages me to go.................wonder why:spite

on December holiday she will either come to the beach with me or stay at the resort with one of her favourite books.

but I think even if I live at the coast she would still be cool with me going fishing all the time.

Hi S/M.The time to be concerned and suspicious is when wife/girlfriend doesn't complain and encourages you to fish and almost carries your fishing gear out to the car for you. Then there's something "Fishy' going on.Saw a photo of an angler on one of the sites, with a large steenbras, and photo taken in the bathroom.i inquired if he used bath to clean his fish as fish was way too big to clean in kitchen sink. He's answer was that he threw everything bar the kitchen sink in to catch this Steenbras and might as well use the bath as well.Cheers!

In my opion , i think most of our wives/girlfreinds complain bout us going fishing. I know mine does. say i spend more time fishing than i do with her and our son. But recently i think she realized no matter what she say im still gonna go and come home smelling like i rolled in the bait.

Tried getting her to come with , but she doesnt like the night fishin.

You guys have the wrong stratergy!
Marry a girl who only eats fish . She will beg you to go fishing so that she can have a decent meal. My girlfriend was totally vegeterian until I convincsd her that she was lacking protein, now she encourages my fishing.
She even buys me fishing gear for christmas and birthdays.
The perfect situation arose in December- She asked if the fishing was good at Inhaca island, before agreeing to an island holiday.

Shark Man ... I'm glad to see I am not alone.

Protocol for going fishing in the Fish Magish household.
1.) Give at least 3 days notice of intent to go fishing
2.) Give at least 2 days 23 hours and 30 minutes notice of confirmation of going fishing, accompanied with an excuse that You think it is time she spends some time with her friends. Cancellations within 2 days and 23 hours and 25 Minutes will not be accepted and all cash deposits will be forfeited, irrespective of severe 20 foot swell battering the coast or acts of god that may occur over the next 48 hours.
3.) Have all tackle and bait on hand ready to go at the door...but no longer than 24 hours in advance as the freezer is for food not bait.
4.) No shopping for tackle or Bait within 24 hours of departure. (See my Problem)
5.)Don't even think of leaving anything at home.

Once you leave on the trip (Even if it is only a couple of hours)
6.) Don't come back within a 4 hour period of leaving. Even if the ocean has dried up.
7.) Don't be late from what ever time was agreed upon. (What time did you say I was going to be back again????!!!??)
8.) Wash yourself in Jeyes fluid if that is what it takes to be allowed in any of the areas inhabited by the wife.
8.) Don't dare bring anything you have caught into the house without "wallpapering" the entire kitchen in newspaper. (If we had a garage... it would be there.)
9.) In the event of the fish being whole,.... Gut, fillet and prepare for eating before Oprah or what ever is on the TV is over. If you go over the time provided, you will be lectured on how to do what ever you are doing.
10. Ensure the area that you worked in is left in a better condition than the day it was constructed.
11.)Don't even think of bragging about the fish you caught or even think of hosting a show and tell until you get asked by the missus. (all shows / stories get a maximum of 4 minutes coverage...5 minutes if you lucky.)
12.) Wife not to be present when you re-tell the story to your mates.
13.) Once the fish is prepared, it must taste good and not like fish....(Still trying to figure that one out.)
14.) Wash the dishes, and rinse gear. Not in the same washbasin.
15.) Pack your gear away in such a fashion that it becomes invisible.
16.) Get a kiss hello from the wife.
17.) Take the missus out to watch a movie, all within a 1/2 hour of returning home.

So Shark Master... i feel you pain... i feel your pain.

(ps. there are 2 x # 8's as it is the only freedom i have )
