does anyone have some tips/tricks/comments about struben dam in pta? i can't really get away over the weekend, so i was thinking to go 'maak 'n lyn nat' there for a couple of hours.

have never fished there, only stopped by to have a peek.

o buck... if anyone knows about this, pls let me know. don't want to waste the precious little fishing time i have practising my casting...

bucknuztz, i see you are also from blou bul land. is there any other good spots in or around pta that i can go to for a quick lyn natmaak from the bank?

Hi guys i have fished struben for the last 5 years, there has never been a polution problem and the bass population is quite large, due to so many people always fishing there they have become really smart, but not uncatchable, you need to fish small and weighless, with natural colours. You need to fish right against the reeds and bank, ive never caught further than a meter from the bank. I have caught 8 bass in a hour there, you just need to fish slow and be patient......good luck

Zucas, must have just missed you there. Been fishing there for the past year. This week was great! Caught two fish and lost one yesterday afternoon round 5. Like Zukas said, weightless and natural. Junebug also works.

You won't believe how shallow these rats keep! I'm fishing ultra light, 5 ft rod, ultra light spinning reel and 6pound line. Once you fish this light, you never look back, trust me.
I fish a weightless junior fluke and can cast it 30-40 m. Never broke line and I am enjoying even the smallest of catches, one gets rewarded with a good fight every time!

Sparnar, many say the dam is dead, but follow advice and you won't be disappointed.

Enjoy bru!

Lost a big one there about 2 weeks ago ... I only had my flyrod there .. used a redtail wooly bugger, but the hook was a bit small ... after about 15 seconds, it bent my hook open so that it looks like a needle! ...
But all in all I must admit I find it difficult to catch anything there ...
