Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone has advice on decent alarms , I currently have fox warriors but seeing as im gonna start fishing a 4 rod set up I would like to get a set of 4 new alarms with a receiver :) I have seen delkims and att's and was wondering if these would be good options or if anyone else has a better suggestion. :)

Thanks

There is only one word for you abel.. And that's Delkim..

When it comes to bite indication there is no match for what Del Romang & Kim Donaldson did in the 1970's and revolutionised bite indication for ever.

I won't spoil the read for you but go onto the website and read what these two gents did. You'll be amazed..!!!

One thing I can tell you is, they are the only bite indication unit that does not use your standard roller wheel with magnets attached and uses a vibration sensing arm....

They are also the only alarm that has a variating speed indication... So the slower the run the slower the bleeps, and the faster the run the faster the bleeps....

Go have a look up as well, don't take my word for it.. If they're good for Frank, Ardy, Briggsy, Tony Davies Patrick, Danny I talk a lot Fairbrass and company then they sure as hell good enough for me....

They will last forever and money well well spent even if you can't afford them... Saving up is the best investment you'll make in your carping lifetime....

I recently bought a set of Delkims. Unfortunately one of the Tone settings are screwed so I had to send it back to Henkor for a replacement or refund.

You can buy from Henkor. I first wanted to buy the Delkims EV's but decided against it after reading on the UK forums that the guys experience problems with them especially after rain so I went with the TLB's instead. Had them for more than a year know and no problems whatsoever, they don't have any settings except for on-off but I have total confidence in them.

It's not about fashion!

I have TLB's and they look of much higher build quality than Delkims. Delkims actually look cheap to me. TLB's also do not have 10 million different settings which is really not needed.

@ Hen - I dont know who your statment was directed at? but i certainly dont have Delkims because its a fashion statement. I saved up for 2 years to get mine so i definately could not afford them!

@ Johann. Very strange comment you made there? Dont get me wrong i totally agree with you on the build side of things. The TLB's are really built tough, But on the same token, who drops their alarms in the lake or fishes with their pod underwater anyway?

I am completely deaf in one ear, so there is a real need to be able to turn my alarm volume and tone settings right up. I just cant hear the TLB's.

I dont see how you say the various settings are not needed? If you are say fishing under overhangs or dead tree's say a metre away from the snags and the fish are really weary - and dont scream off naturally you would want your bite indication set up to maximum sensitivity? - Would you not?

I know i certainly would.

Each to their own, but dont knock other companies just because you think your chosen one is the best... we could all say something bad about each alarm, but fact is fact and fiction is well exactly that....

Great stuff guys , :) I appreciate the advice , so delkims it is , money is not a problem for me lol it's jst I wanna get the best first time and only 1 time :) do you guys know where I could get delkims and a receiver other than from henkor? I jst wanna view my options :)
Many thanks guys

Chris, dont see more into my comment than what it is. Just like you have your opinion I have mine.

I did not knock anyone down, Delkims are not appealing to me (And many similarly famous anglers worldwide)just like a TLB do not appeal to you and some other famous anglers worldwide.

Thats it, no knocking anyone down - Its called opinion

but Johann what im trying to get you to understand is your reasoning is incorrect.

What you implied by your statement was that TLBS's are good because they have NO settings and that Delkims arent as good because they have Tone, Volume and Sensitivity settings that can be adjusted. How can that be, as thats so far from the truth?

Opinion is one thing and yes granted we all have our own right to opinion, the way you like TLB's and I like Delkims. But your reasoning is a bit faulty dont you think?

Chris my comments aren't directed to any specific person, just stating my opinion. Like I said, originally I wanted to get the EV's but after reading up on opinions from UK guys I decided to go with the TLB's, and for the same price they looked like the better option.

I'm not knocking Delkims but I don't have R750 per alarm to waste, can't buy something that could possibly give me hassles. If I had the money I would probably have bought TXi's but I'm happy with my TLB's and haven't once thought of "upgrading".

Each to his own, as long as it works for you.

@chris, I would prefer Delkims (when I have the cash) but johann isn't wrong with his reasoning. If you want simplicity TLB's are perfect, its on or its off. If you want to set sensitivity, tone, etc the go Delkim. I think for some people simplicity is more important, for others its not. Either way Delkims and TLB's are both top notch alarms.

@ Earth

Then he must state that is what he meant. Cause that is not what he said.

You have hit the nail on the head! and i agree!

@ Hen

But if its not directed at anyone, why would you say its not a fashion statement. Obviously you must mean someone somewhere bought it for a fashion statement - so then who? or else you wouldnt have said it? correct?

No one said YOU were knocking Delkims im just trying to find out what your rational was?

I just find it hard to believe when ppl say they are crap when they have so many things that most other alarms dont, and so many other interesting facts that make them leaders in the bite alarm industry.

Now im not talking about opinions here, whether you like em or not, im saying in terms of the TECHNOLOGY and the history behind the company and product - why would you not go for quite honestly the best there is to offer?
