In the Gauteng social thread it was discussed that we'll have the social this Saturday and go to the expo on Sunday. I tried to find out what time the GoFish expo opens, but it seems like the expo has moved to 15-16 November instead.

Can anyone confirm that? I can't find anything on Gallagher Estate's website and the GoFish website is not up.

GOFISH Expo moved to November 2008

GOFISH SA EXPO MOVED TO NOVEMBER

“It is the long term objective for GoFish SA to ensure a comprehensive delivery of sport and recreational angling products and educational workshops, in the process building a creditable platform for constructive dialogue between the angling and general public with Government departments and the supply side of the angling industry,” says Dee Reuvers, MD of the organisers NichePro (Pty) Ltd in Midrand. “To achieve this goal the profile of participating companies and workshop content needs to be comprehensive,” she points out. “After much discussion with the industry the Organisers have therefore decided to move the Expo to run from 15 -16 November 2008, with the venue still being the world class Gallagher Estate,” she says.

An innovative feature of the GoFish SA Expo will be presentations and group discussions led by prominent authorities in angling and related matters to address various topical issues, while hands-on lectures and demonstrations will provide both beginner and experienced anglers with practical expertise across the entire spectrum of sport and leisure fishing in South Africa.

GoFish SA retains the support of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), which is a not for profit organisation committed to conservation of game fish and the promotion of responsible, ethical angling practices through science, education, rule making and record keeping. “IGFA supports all actions by individuals and Organisations that serve the best interests of recreational fishing, therefore the IGFA would like to support the 2008 GoFish SA Expo in South Africa”, says IGFA President Rob Kramer.

In addition the Vice President of the International Confederation for Sport Angling (CIPS) Hymie Steyn has accepted the invitation to officially open the exhibition in November and to assist in the acknowledgement awards to those people in the industry who are most deserving.

“Given this final amendment to our Exhibition Plan I am confident that GoFish SA will secure its rightful place in the international and national angling arena,” Dee Reuvers concludes.

The GO-FISH expo scheduled for the 15th and 16th of this month has been cancelled. The organiser say there is little support from the local industry.

Pity.
