Fatal Shark Attack at Vidal

A man has died of his injuries after being attacked by a shark at Cape Vidal in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said. Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the man had been spearfishing with a group of people at Cape Vidal, 150km north of Richards Bay, when he was attacked around midday.
He was taken ashore by other fishermen and on-scene medical personnel attended to him until the KZN-EMRS Red Cross AMS helicopter and private ambulance services arrived.

The man suffered lacerations to his thigh and was declared dead on-scene after all efforts to resuscitate him were exhausted.

Planning to head up to Zululand within the next month or so and have read his blog on diving the area, seemed a nice chap.

R.I.P and sincere condolences to the family.

Not to hijack the topic in anyway, but guys please remember that shark shields DO work. I know various people who use them and one of them actually saved his friend's life because of the sharkshield.

Condolences to all his friends & family. I heard about it just after it happened. Some friends of mine were there in Vidal, although not on the same boat, and said Warren had just been attacked. Very sad to hear.

In a similar incident...

A spearo (Trevor Burger) was also attacked a few weeks ago off Glenmore. He was more fortunate though. Making me think twice about diving this upcoming sardine run.

He was a good guy. I know his brother well and met Warren a few times. In absolute shock. You are sorely missed bro, R.I.P
